Hard to tell. They just nabbed Hoyer but I would think that if they haven't gone full retard, that is just a stop gap so they could still be in the market for a long term solution to ride pine in year one and then take the reins.
I mean that makes sense but they need a lot of stuff and there's a lot of really good defenders. Including a couple Ohio state guys they could use.

Would make.sense. Though with a new HC and Rookie GM part of me thinks they'd want to make a splash.
I think they're holding a candle for Cousins. Shanahan supposedly preferred him to RGIII pretty earlY on, but Snyder wouldn't allow it. One way or another, this year or next, I think he'll be a Niner. I don't see any way they go offense.

Just getting in and seeing this Osweiler trade

How are they going to fuck that up do you reckon?
Trade the #1 overall this year, plus the #1 next year...which will also be #1 overall because JG will go Kijana in the first preseason game. No functional QB, dead money for a guy they cut, NE wins 3 straight SBs and has 2 straight #1 overall picks. That ought to do it.

Well probably as creatively as the made it. Bill Polish was visibly pissed off about it, so, you know, that made it all worthwhile.

Shit, if he's the 3rd best QB you got going into the season, keep him around what's the difference?

Him and Herm, both. It was hilarious. And sad. Hilarious that they were so up in arms against it but sad that they tried to rail on the Browns for it as if these two football minds were too stupid to understand it. They went on and on about $16M. "The Browns paid $16M for a 2nd round pick!..." It's more like the Browns told the Texans that they can store some of their useless shit in their basement for one year, after that one year they HAD to move it out, and they had to pay the Browns a decent amount of money to use the basement space that the Browns weren't going to use anyway. In what world did the Browns REALLY pay $16M for a second round pick? The money really doesn't matter. It could be $20M or $25M even. It was essentially a free pick because all of the Browns cap money wasn't going to be spent, they HAD to spend enough to reach the salary floor AND the money is then off the books next year and Osweiler is completely forgotton as if he was never signed in the first place. The only difference is the Browns complied with the league salary rules and got one 2nd round pick richer in the process.

Well, yes and no.

I don't know who these guys you are referencing are but from a business point of view it always comes down to ROI.

What return could you have gotten for that $16MM this year vs the 2nd round pick next year? That is the bet as I would look at it if I were the Browns owner.

I don't pretend to know enough about the variables to give an opinion on what could have been done with the money or what the draft pick could potentially but I am certain of how to analyse the eventual return.
