Its essentially a high school QB throwing 10 yards to a guy with nobody around him. I might concede the "guts" part, but the chances of making that play are higher than not completing it. These are professional athletes we're talking about.

I was reasonably impressed with West and Crowell. Hoyer played well, too. Of course, that isn't the type of stillers D we're accustomed to, so we'll see if they can keep it up. Aside from a horrific first half, there's reason for optimism. At least enough to stave off the draft talk another week. :lol:

In other words you are saying a FG that far has been made there before, Billy has had 7 FG's over 50 before, he has made 56 yds a few times, and all proof it could very well been made... so therefore it makes sense to give it a shot.

Yes, it's stupid to try and win, it always work out so much better playing not to lose... which we did. Pittsburgh faked a punt well on their own side of the field, the percentages don't say that it was wise, but they did and it worked beautifully. See that's what happens with you play with some balls.

In the NFL, if you don't have a kicker that has the ability to hit a 52 yd FG now and again, then you have a problem.

So, whe you're factually rebuffed, this is the best you're you can do? So, either the longest ever or tied for the longest ever there from a guy that makes 25% from that range. Stupid.

The facts are he has made them before, that is what matters. He has the range in the past. Apparently we should never ever try a kick past 50 yds b/c it's not a gimme. That's essentially what you're saying.

Stupid is playing the whole 2nd half like you have nothing to lose and then when presented a chance to win the game, get cold feet and play it safe.

Stupid is also continuing to argue it, it's over, nothing is changing, so I honestly don't feel like harping on it anymore.

:slappy: It was over until you brought it up again.

The "FAX" are:

1. It's tough to kick FGs of any length in Pittsburgh.

2. Billy Cundiff is well below 50% in his career on FG attempts of 50+

3. The Browns were on the road and tied.

4. Pittsburgh had done absolutely NOTHING up to that point offensively since the middle of the 2nd quarter.

5. The defense was playing very very well.


The only idiots that kick the FG there are Nick Saban and you, apparently.

There's a difference between gambling on 25% odds in the 2nd quarter and when a game is possibly on the line. He has made them before, but for one he made, he missed three more. Very few coaches are going to gamble in that spot, and most of them will look stupid when their kicker misses. The D had been playing very well. Giving them the chance to get to overtime was the smart play. It just backfired this time.
