Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/45947/309/2014-nfl-free-agents

Yes. Have to sign someone. Him or Austin would make the most sense. Santonio probably has less left in the tank and might be ok with a 1 year deal.
Devon Bess  Seriously, when training camps begin I think you will see a lot of guys get cut who might fit into the Browns system.

Thank goodness Gordon's test became positive before we signed him to a long-term contract. I do not think you will ever see him in a Browns uniform again.

I like the drafting of the CB from a small school. He is extremely athletic and was projected as a possible second round pick. It was interesting to hear that Pettine wants his CBs to just cover WRs and not worry about run support. Wants all of the other guys to be concerned about getting to the quarterback.

I'll wait until training camp cut season before I panic.

We were never, ever, going to fill all the holes on this team through the draft. It just wasn't going to happen. But after the draft I feel comfortable in saying....

- We improved our OL and the starters are potentially stacked with talent between Thomas, Greco, Mack, Schwartz, Bitonio
- Huge leaps and bounds better in RB talent with Ben Tate, West, and a healthy Dion Lewis
- A set of CB's that include Joe Haden, #8 Justin Gilbert, a vastly improved Buster Skrine, Pierre Desir, and whatever Leon McFadden is (I guess good as a 5th CB?)
- Another talent to rush the passer off the edge

We have a very strong defense; we have a potentially strong run game. We have holes at WR and ILB but that's a whole lot better than previously when we had holes at QB, RB, WR, OL, CB, ILB, etc. This is a better team and a team with a clear vision.

Also, very excited we have a GM that stays true to his draft board and doesn't panic. Let's see what he can do with UDFA's and cuts; and let's hope Abberderis or whatever falls to the 7th :)

Just sayin': Hindsight is 20/20; but needless to say, they should have traded him last year when he actually had some value.

Cleveland Browns' Josh Gordon drew several good trade offers, but none good enough for a top-five wideout

The Browns received several good offers for receiver Josh Gordon before Tuesday's 4 p.m. trading deadline, but none good enough to pry the top-five wideout away from the Browns, league sources said.
.
.
.
In June, CEO Joe Banner said "Gordon knows that the rope that's left isn't long."

“I feel like it’s a last chance opportunity for the league,'' Gordon said. "Nobody just wants a problematic type of person in their program or their organization because of how they’re perceived to be. So I definitely want to stay away from controversy as long as I can, forever. That’s definitely my No. 1 priority."

He stressed the suspension was a humbling experience.

"You find an appreciation for the game,'' he said. "The absence of it makes the heart grow fonder in a sense. That's really what it's about for me right now.''

Gordon admitted last week that he had grown weary of the persistent trade rumors.

"I'm tired of it,'' he said. "I honestly wish if it was going to happen, I wish it would happen already instead of dragging on. If a trade offer came in and that’s what the Browns want to do, so be it. If not, then let it be known this is where I’m going to be. Honestly, it’s part of the game. I’m dealing with it.”

He said he wanted to remain a Brown, and took some solace in reassurances from Chudzinski that he would.

"I’m here in Cleveland and I want to make a difference here in Cleveland,'' he said. "This is where I am right now. ..my head and my space is right here and that’s what I’m focusing on.''

Santonio Holmes is an unsigned free agent at the moment.

i like the chance we are taking with Isiah Cromwell...our RB core is pretty fucking good at this point...as long as cromwell doesnt commit another felony and makes the roster here is our RB core: Tate/Cromwell/Lewis/West...rotoworld apparently loves him also

Crowell (5-foot-11, 224) went to Georgia as five-star prep recruit and started as a true freshman, posting a 185-850-4.6-5 stat line in 2011. He was arrested on felony weapons charges the following June, and promptly dismissed from the team. Resurfacing at Alabama State, he rushed 170 times for 1,121 yards (6.59 YPC) and 15 touchdowns in 2013, adding seven catches. Although Crowell has obvious off-field concerns, he's among the most talented running backs in the 2014 class with explosive lateral agility and a powerful lower body. He ran 4.57 at the Combine with a 9-foot-9 broad jump and 38-inch vertical. Also an able pass protector, Crowell won't need long to contribute to the Browns if his head is on straight. He's a high-ceiling Dynasty prospect and will give Terrance West all he can handle behind Ben Tate.

I thought you guys drafted extremely well. I've already documented the first round...Bitonio is a great player but think you should have went WR there. Kirksey is a VERY good LB with potential to challenge for a spot right away. West was an incredibly great get at RB that late in the 3rd. Desir fell way farther than expected and will help out right away.

It was pretty clear they had a plan going into the draft at certain spots and mostly stuck to it. Now we'll see if that draft plan pans out to results on the field.

With Tate and the 2 rookie RB's I wonder if Lewis will see time in the slot? Better get Little some pine tar gloves.

I think it's pretty clear that the main goal this off season was to improve the running game.
