It had better be.So, is the myth of Brian hoyer dead yet?
A lot of people, around here included, wanted to build around Hoyer based on a couple of decent games last year before the knee. They were further fed when he had a couple decent games early on this year. Not sure what 'myth' there was to begin with? But the resounding answer would be 'no'.
I'm certainly not a Colt McCoy fan and never was, but at least Colt had mobility and the ability to scramble for yardage. Hoyer is basically an immobile version of McCoy.I posted during the game that Hoyer isn't doing anything Colt McCoy couldn't do.
I know it's a bad defense, but I watched Colt McCoy go 31-47 for 392 yards and 3 TDs against the Colts today. Same story- can throw a good ball given time, not strong, but can make the quick decision and distribute the ball, and sometimes "guts" out a win (the kid won 45 games in college).
As a note, I was in favor of letting Colt get a chance way back when, but fully aware that this would basically be his ceiling. We're just seeing it with a different name/number now.

Hoyer reminds me of a pitcher with a 6.32 ERA who lucks his way to a 9-5 record with incredible run support. You watch the guy play, and there's absolutely no correlation between his performance and his record.
I hope that Browns fans will finally realize that the team has been winning despite Hoyer, not because of Hoyer.
Browns fans think that Hoyer is so great because the bar is so damned low: Weeden ... Campbell ... Delhomme ... Quinn ... Frye ... ad nauseumTo be fair, if we're using the pitcher comparison, he does strike a guy out or two in the clutch from time to time... and well, Brandon Weeden... was... just... that... bad.

Hoyer might be the best of the bunch since 1999, but that still doesn't make him anything better than an average journeyman NFL quarterback.
