This franchise has no fuckin clue what its doing. They have no plan. There's no semblance of trust and there sure as hell is no idea of how to build it. Until this franchise achieves some level of stability (and 5 coaches in 7 years is NOT stability), these seasons are going to be the same and it's going to be rinse, wash and repeat. If saying that makes me a parody Browns fan (whatever the fuck that is) so be it.

So, if Chud is an incompetent boob (he may well be, I laughed my ass off when they hired him last year), and this FO hired him, you're supposed to believe they'll get it right this time? This franchise is on the same plain as the 80s-90s Clippers, and 80s-mid 90s Buccaneers for futility. Doesn't look like that cycle is anywhere close to being broken. If you're lucky, maybe this FO/ownership is trying to pull a "Major League" and eventually move the franchise. Putting what's left of this fanbase out of its misery would be an act of kindness.

The "franchise" doesn't make any decisions, the people running it do. The current regime has been in place for less than two years, so it's pretty early to make the determination that they have "no fuckin clue".
Their "plan" has been to get rid of inept players (Richardson) and fire incompetent coaches (Chud) before they can do long term damage to the team. I seem to remember many Buckeye fans hoping that Urban Meyer would come in and get rid of the dead wood in Columbus.
"Trust" is irrelevant in the NFL - these are big boys who are every bit into the economics of the game as the owners, and they trust their paychecks, nothing more.
As far as "stability" goes, the team could be very stable with Colt McCoy, Pat Shurmer, Brian Robiskie, et al. In other words, keeping crappy players and coaches for the sake of stability is definitely a loser's game.
As far as you being a parody fan, who knows? Maybe you simply lack insight and logic, and prefer to respond to every move that the team makes with an unchecked emotional reaction.

And yes, franchises that win in the NFL have trust of each other within the organization, have a plan that is discernible, have some semblance of stability and have clear leadership. The Browns haven't had that since they rejoined the NFL.
Enough with this....I just wonder who they'll hire now. I wouldn't mind seeing them take a run at Gruden's brother in Cincy.

They probably shouldn't have hired a guy who, IIRC, wasn't on anybody's radar in the first place. I said it was a stupid hire, I'm just surprised they are cutting bait already. If the guy's that big of a boob, then firing him is the right thing to do. However, since they saw fit to hire the clown in the first place, I wouldn't expect that they won't bumble this hire as well.

They hired him with a 4 year contract. If you're truly not sold on the guy, why give him a contract that long in the first place? It's a scattered, confused and pathetic situation all around and the entire franchise appears to have no direction right now.
for the way forward, it's about who they hire. Will it be a LOLbardi yes man or will it be a coach who can get the franchise moving forward again.

It takes balls to admit you were wrong so quickly, but the fact is it happened so fast, there were no grumblings. Most of the players didn't even see it coming, which if nothing leaks out in the NFL means it looks like a quick/hasty decision. Time will tell if they got it right.
I agree with you on the coaching front except that the point bolded. Given the small sample size, 1 hire 1 fire so they are sitting at 100% failure rate, I have 0 faith in the front office to hire someone who would be considered a good coach. Buttchin is headed to Houston with a much better chance to win, and McDaniels drafted Tebow in the 1st round (that should black ball him forever from being anything more than a coordinator.
and if your a FA, I know money talks, but why would you want to play for this clown show. It means they will end up overpaying for less talented guys just to try to get over the Cap Floor.

It takes big brass balls to admit a mistake and fire the guy you hired after one year.
I fully expect to hear today that Haslam is firing Banner and Lombardi since they made such a colossal error in their first HC hire, that he needed to be fired after one year, the franchise doesn't need them around another 3 or 4 years.
But I doubt we hear that today. That would require consistency in decision making.

What is your evidence that the FO has any sort of direction? Trading stocks every day doesn't indicate an investment strategy...why does firing the guy they were touting as the best young coach in football less than a year ago indicate direction? And, as prof said, if he really is that bad, then why does the FO get a free pass for such a stupid hire?
