Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

straight line speed was never the question with millner. people quesitoned his ability to flip his hips and turn and run as he wasn't often asked to do so at Bama.

besides, i'm fairly certain cleveland is going to sign a cb via FA. i don't see anything but OLB/pass rusher being the choice at #6. I see them signing someone like a shaun phillips to hold down a spot while they bring along a rookie.

Definetly agree with you on both points. CB in FA (Grimes or Talib?) and a youngin' on the edge on D @ 6 (Ansah/BYU or Moore (A&M).

Not sure about Moore....he made himself look horrible at the combine. Put up 12 reps, the weakest of the DL and had to be close to worse for LB's, and a 4.95 40.....I'm not a huge numbers guy until they stand out, for better or worse. A 4.31 by Milliner opens eyes, a 4.95 by Moore and 12 reps....ugh.

Now not likely at #6 but a guy shooting up boards as well is UCLA DE Datone Jones.

Good find. I haven't looked at the combine results so this does have a bearing. 4.95 and 12 reps looks like my performance at age 48. :yow1:

If there is anyone on UCLA's roster I'd want - it's Anthony Barr. That kid will be a top 10 pick come next year. I'm fine with a stop-gap at OLB.
Hell I wanted him this year. Only playing the position one season but has great natural "violent" hand usage. Great outside explosion and is learning quickly to vary his moves. That type of coachable talent is what we want.

Well, he didn't say anything anyone with half a brain didn't see...

No, just the fact he said it is what is making news here. I think most people are blowing it off...MKC is trying to milk it for mileage on all the radio shows, though.

I would hope if you asked Weeden if he had any trouble reading defenses last year he would say yes and it was watching film every day to get better at it.

I would worry more about Weeden if he thought he didn't have any trouble reading defenses last year.

no, i think brandon weeden was the first ever rookie qb that had trouble reading defenses. what should have raised eyebrows was the fact that pat shurmur thought the best thing to do was to scale back his simpleton offense even further, thereby putting an offense with 4 rookie starters on it at a bigger disadvantage. that, and the fact that the qb wasn't allowed to audible.

If Milliner is gone and we cannot trade down, this is very intriguing about Mingo
There were lots of questions Barkevious Mingo needed to answer in Indianapolis after a disappointing 2012 season. He answered them and showed why he has the ability to be a pass-rushing force at the next level. The former Tiger came in about 20 pounds heavier than he was at LSU and then put on a jaw-dropping performance once he stepped on the field. Mingo's athleticism was apparent from the first day that he stepped on the field in Baton Rouge and it was confirmed Monday morning in Indy. Mingo turned in the second best 40 time of the defensive linemen at 4.58, he was tied for second with a vertical jump of 37 inches and he had the best broad jump of the group as well. The most impressive part of Mingo's day was the way he performed during the on-field drills. The movement skills, athleticism and flexibility were all on display as he moved fluidly all around the field. Even though he played defensive end at LSU, Mingo was run through a myriad of linebacker drills and looked comfortable. "Keke" solidified himself as one of the best pass-rushers in the draft a Top 10 talent in this year's class.

If he's closer to 240 now, I'd take a look at him. There's still no way he was more than 220 at LSU.

This draft is just setting up to be so disappointing. Perhaps the weakest overall that I've seen in my lifetime (in terms of that "elite" talent)

He's a combine warrior though - his lack of production still scares me.

It really is awful. I'd be pissed if I were sitting anywhere in the top-3 this year. Guys that end up going 1-5 are probably borderline top-10 guys most years (excepting Joeckel). Thoroughly mediocre.

Completely agree with the overall lack of solid top 10 picks in this draft...They're really is nobody that jumps off the screen to me....I agree I like Mingo fluidity during his drills yesterday but he looks little to me..I can see him being a non factor in running plays as a tackle or guard getting to the second tier blocks can move him around with ease...that being said I think he will have a similar pass rushing presence as a Pierre-Paul or Aldon Smith in the league...So at the end of the day I feel if our pick is to be an DE\OLB hyrib type...I'd take Mingo over Jones all day...

well that's good - maybe the Browns won't get too hurt when they reach for some no-name DE in the 1st round that no one has heard of....
