Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

While the higher draft picks will benefit us, hopefully, in the long run it would have been very nice for the Browns to have beaten Brady and the Patriots. It is a shame that officiating plays such an important role in the outcome of a game. I almost think that the NFL should think about putting one of the field officials up in the press box so that they can get a better view of the game. There were some questionable calls also in the 49ers/Seahawks game.

I also wonder if pass interference in the NFL should only be a 15 yard penalty like college. Just because there is pass interference does not mean that the receiver is going to catch the ball.

Pass interference should only be 15 yards unless it's the last 2 minutes of the half.

Another rule change that needs to be made is forward progress. There are too many guys, both offensive and defensive, that are pushing a ballcarrier after he has been stopped. This is a bunch of crap and probably leads to a number of injuries. This is also true in the college game. Think Carlos in the game this past weekend. Also, there was a penalty about a month ago on a field goal in a professional game for a penalty was called because one offensive lineman pushed another offensive lineman. If they are going to call that penalty what is the difference about pushing to advance a ballcarrier or defensive players piling on when the ballcarrier is upright.

At this time I'd like to thank Tom Heckert. Gordon is having a monster year and is continuing to get better. He just walked all over one of the better CB's in the league (Talib) to the tune of 151 yards. Best draft decision for this franchise since Joe Thomas.

Its just a mixed bag, I tend to think their scouts did a nice job and these clowns messed up the top picks... but, I mean, they did get good value in the mid and later rounds. I mean, not Greg Little and Owen Marecic... lol... but, there are some nice players in there.

Jordan Cameron and Gordon are now two of the top players at their respective positions in the league. Those were outstanding picks. And if Gordon can stay away from the sizzurp, he's one of the top-three WRs in the league for the foreseeable future.

well, they were widely panned John Hughes, then panned them more when they took Big Bad Billy Winn... both are solid... Buster Skrine was what? A 5th Rounder and has been what they hoped, a nickel corner that had to start... Sheard and Taylor were solid picks... Benjamin not a bad contributor for a 4th rounder... JMJ... not so good for a 4th round pick, but, hey, it is what it is.

Hughes could have been had a little later in the draft, I feel. However for a mid 3rd rounder he's been very solid in rotation. Billy Winn has a motor every time
he's on the field. Love watching him play. Skrine has overcome his shakey start to be a solid nickel man. If we can get a good #2 CB and some ILB help, this defense will be very good for a long while.

It's scary to think that Gordon is putting up these numbers with a clown-car rotation at QB. Not to mention, he's essentially the only threat at WR. Get a solid #2 WR and a good QB and he will be unreal.

Oh, and a running game that consists of more than the ghost of Willis McGahee and two former Longhorn scrubs. If El Guapo is sitting there in round 2 or 3, they'd be crazy not to grab him.

Honest question for the other Browns fan(s) here.... I know in a perfect world the Browns would be good etc etc... ignoring that would you rather have the Browns situation where you know its a train wreck the only question is how bad... or be like the Cowboys, on the cusp of good/great but have someone who wont step outta the way which leads to failures constantly during and at the end of the season..

I only ask because i hear cowboy fans/talk radio bitching and moaning about the cowboys...

That is really a hard question to answer because every year I think Cowboys fans think they are going to the Super Bowl but Jerry Jones keeps on getting in the way. It is also a difficult question to answer because being a native Clevelander who has followed the Browns all his life I think I would rather be a Browns fan because with this regime I think there is hope moving forward. Until Jerry Jones gets out of the way, I do not think that the Cowboys will ever be as great as Cowboys fans think they are going to be. It is very difficult for me to look at another team objectively because I am a real diehard Browns fan.

Right now I'm sure most of us would take what the Cowboys have since we have been starved of any success for so long. I'm sure after a few years of barely missing the playoffs, getting knocked out of the first round of the playoffs, an owner that oversteps his bounds, and a qb that is being paid top tier money to be average we would probably start complaining again.
