Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

I owe Banner an apology. I must have had too much of the Holmgren Kool-Aid and believed that Richardson was an elite NFL RB. After seeing the Browns and Richardson for a couple games apart I get that he isn't what I thought he was. The Browns were probably lucky to get at first round pick for a guy that can only muster 60 yards on 20 carries against the Jags. The Browns top 2 RB's went for 73 on 20 carries against "the best front four in the NFL" (per one of the talking heads this morning) so what I and many of us thought was tanking looks to be to be a move to get value for a player that looks to have been very overvalued when he was drafted.

It just sucks seeing how shitty of a job Holmgren and Heckert did with the first round picks last year. How much better could this team be if they could get a do over on those picks? I still don't think Weeden is that bad of a QB and is the best on the Browns roster, but that won't mean anything when they draft a first round QB next spring. I don't think we've see the last of Weeden with the Browns so it will be interesting to see how he looks the next time he gets a shot. Hoyer has proven that he can provide a spark, but I think the Browns would be better served seeing if they can get any value from Weeden between now and the draft. Hoyer seems to have better touch than Weeden on the short throws, but Weeden can make deep throws that Hoyer can't.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the offense got better as soon as Gordon came back. Regardless of the trade rumors last week Gordon has a lot more value for the Browns than what anyone else would give them in a trade so they just need to do everything they can to keep him clean. Gordon and Cameron are the only 2 players on the offense that have shown to have game breaking ability so they need to start there and fill in the other missing pieces.
