Yeah, though Indy's line isn't a big step up from the clowns, TR's longest run this year is 12 yards, and he's barely averaging 3 ypc. It's pretty clear he's a mediocre running back at best. I wasn't so much upset that they dealt him because I thought he'd ever materialize here, more just what dealing him represented...ANOTHER wasted draft. That was a draft that was supposed to seriously help restock the roster, and at this point, very little has come of it....and essentially NOTHING from the first 2 rounds.I owe Banner an apology. I must have had too much of the Holmgren Kool-Aid and believed that Richardson was an elite NFL RB. After seeing the Browns and Richardson for a couple games apart I get that he isn't what I thought he was. The Browns were probably lucky to get at first round pick for a guy that can only muster 60 yards on 20 carries against the Jags. The Browns top 2 RB's went for 73 on 20 carries against "the best front four in the NFL" (per one of the talking heads this morning) so what I and many of us thought was tanking looks to be to be a move to get value for a player that looks to have been very overvalued when he was drafted.
It just sucks seeing how [Mark May]ty of a job Holmgren and Heckert did with the first round picks last year. How much better could this team be if they could get a do over on those picks? I still don't think Weeden is that bad of a QB and is the best on the Browns roster, but that won't mean anything when they draft a first round QB next spring. I don't think we've see the last of Weeden with the Browns so it will be interesting to see how he looks the next time he gets a shot. Hoyer has proven that he can provide a spark, but I think the Browns would be better served seeing if they can get any value from Weeden between now and the draft. Hoyer seems to have better touch than Weeden on the short throws, but Weeden can make deep throws that Hoyer can't.
I don't think it's a coincidence that the offense got better as soon as Gordon came back. Regardless of the trade rumors last week Gordon has a lot more value for the Browns than what anyone else would give them in a trade so they just need to do everything they can to keep him clean. Gordon and Cameron are the only 2 players on the offense that have shown to have game breaking ability so they need to start there and fill in the other missing pieces.

I'm not ready to say they're heading in the right direction. I'm to the point that until I see a full season of sustained improvement, I still simply expect them to fuck it up. It looks like netting a 1st rounder for TR mat well end up being a shrewd move, but we'll see what they do with it. We're still dealing with LOLbardi here. But, Gordon and Cameron give them two very legitimate weapons in the passing game, which they haven't really had since the rebirth (aside from the 2007 aberration). I still don't think Hoyer's a long term answer. So, still need a RB and QB. Not to mention several other pieces.
Reports are Hoyer is starting Thursday nightYeah, I mean... as to Richardson, obviously 2 weeks in, it looks pretty good. And I was sitting there thinking as the Browns were in the Red Zone for their second TD yesterday... that McGahee was taking what was there and getting postive yards inside the 20. That made things a whole lot easier for Hoyer. Just effective enough that the Bengals had to respect it.
As to ANOTHER draft wasted... yeah, that 1st round, not so pretty, but, on the other hand, the philosophical commitment to play young guys might be paying off to some degree. Is Tashaun Gipson the best player to come out of that group (UFA). I'm starting to like that kid. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around Schwartz's terrible start, but, seemed to get better this week... I wonder how much of it is Cousins and a lack of cohesion on that side... and Mack's well, foibles of his own. Obviously Hughes and Winn are important depth guys. And really, the whole depth chart in the front 7 is pretty legit.
At any rate, I'm not trying to defend the previous regime, and LOLBardi, is still LOLbardi... I will say that I don't know if he's gonan be worth his draft position but, Mingo so far, doesn't look... ummm... terrible... by any means.
Now... on Hoyer... I'm not sure he's the long term answer either, I only remember 2 'WTF was that' throws yesterday, down from about 5 or 6. And yeah, there are clearly some throws he doesn't feel comfortable with... but, the reason he is valuable is that maybe he can show if anyone else is worth a broke dick in this offense. See, no one knew Jordan Cameron was a badass until last week. Josh Gordon trending upward...
Bess can actually mostly catch the balls thrown to him... and *gasp* mostly knows where the 1st down marker is.
Add Benjamin and Rainy and you've got some slippery guys for a screen game (and that's like the only thing Lauvao was any good at)... and as mentioned before, run the ball downhill well enough to have it a little bit respected and this offense defiently should be able to move the ball and get first downs, and occasionally score. (Hoyer in the Red Zone isn't even the same sport as Weeden)
And I don't think we have an 8-8 team here, necessarily, or anything, but, at this point the Defense is playing well enough that they deserve to have the QB who gives them the best chance to win on the field. And if they want Weeden's dumb ass to go out there for a half after his thumb heals and suck it up... fine, but for me, I'd rather have the guy who can actually exectue the offense and run the whole play book. And honestly, we've seen 18 games of weeden sucking, Hoyer has what? 3 full games of NFL tape? He's 2-0 for us. Fuck it, see what he can do.

See, I can't imagine any other thing, I mean, would you want to ask Weeden to prep on a short week? See, that's messed up, because he's supposed to be the starter. Just cut him, we don't need no ginger QB's up in here anyhow.
Can't cut him. The Bungles would be all over him in a second.
Oh I agree, IMO it's Hoyer's job to lose now. Until he fubars it, he should startAt this point even if Weeden is 100% you can't go back to him unless Hoyer does something to lose the job or gets hurt. Now if Hoyer throws 3 picks in the first half Thursday and Weeden is healthy I would expect to see him in the second half.
Why? are we against padding Buster Skrine's stats?
You were on a roll till you stubbed your toe here.. it's clear they are not broadcasting the Brownies down your way... I think Little is his WR coach...Bess can actually mostly catch the balls thrown to him...
