No. You don't spend the #4 pick on a right tackle...which is what he'd be here.ImFrigginFly;2141197; said:What does everyone think about getting Kalil at #4 if available?

It's just not a good value when you have so many other needs.ImFrigginFly;2141206; said:I was talking about solidifying our line for years to come and drafting him as a RT. I didn't know about the rule of not drafting a RT in the top 5 though.

ImFrigginFly;2141210; said:I'd tend to agree. I was just seeing what the consensus was. From what I understand, Kalil is a very highly rated lineman who would normally go #3, except there's the possibility of some teams going retard and trading up for Tannehill. Some team will get very lucky with him falling down to them if they have a LT need.
BuckeyeMike80;2141212; said:Yep, which is why it's curious to see the Queens so eager to trade....they could use a good LT.
ArmyVet83;2141181; said:Let's see how this could work out:
15 - Michael Floyd, WR (Floyd will start opposite Little)
22 - Jonathan Martin, T (Martin will start at RT).
37- David Wilson RB. (Wilson will play and split duties with Hardesty but eventually will start)
46 - Amini Silatolu, G/OT. (Will srart at one of guard positions and provide depth at either T position if needed)
51 - Lavonate David, LB. Could start at some point at one of the OLB postions.
And the rest of the draft could go like this:
67 - Dwayne Allen, TE (Could start at TE, had a good career at Clemson)
100 - Chase Minniefield, CB. (Provides depth and competion at CB opp. Haden; PLUS he's a legacy. His dad did a hell of job for us. Why not?)
118 - Marcus Forston, DT (Depth at DT is needed)
139 - Russel Wilson, QB (Had to pick a QB at some point why not Wilson)
160 - Dontae-Paige Moss, DE (Depth and youth at DE just in case Frostee doesn't pan out)
204 - BJ Cunningham, WR ( I like this kid, OSU didn't recruit him and had a decent career at MSU; at this point you take him and see what he can do.)
205 - Justin Bethel, S ( Depth at safety)
211- Blake Gideon, S (Depth at safety)
245 - Blair Walsh, K (Need a new kicker at some point)
247 - Tony Bergstrom, T (Depth on the line)
I would be happy with this draft. Continue building this team through the draft
Not just the felonies...have you seen their moves in FA this year? They're stockpiling former 1st round flame outs like nobody's business.NJ-Buckeye;2141370; said:I'd be looking at free agent QB Ryan Leaf.. but with 4 felonies.. we'll never get him from the Bengals
I disagree strongly here. While bookend tackles of Thomas/Kalil sounds very nice...spending the #4 pick on a guy who is gonna be your RT is poor value when you have a roster with so many other holes on it. Not to mention the salary you'd then have invested there paying a #4 pick. It's just not good business. Would Kalil at RT really make your team better than taking an elite RB? Or drafting Claiborne and having two possible shutdown corners? You can still find a very good RT later in the draft, or through FA eventually. If Matt Kalil is sitting there.. regardless of the roster.. you have to take him.. but my guess, there's 29 teams that will give you anything you want for that pick.. a LT at that tier.. anchors your line for a decade... worth their weight in gold.. ask me if I'd care if he was our RT
Still...you're spending a premium pick on a non-premium position, and passing up the opportunity to draft elite players at other positions where you have a major need. I also don't think Thomas/Kalil are going to improve Hardesty/Ogbannaya much. Yes...the shelf life (on average) RBs is pretty low...but guys like Richardson don't come along very often. And, after Richardson, the dropoff in talent at RB is significant in this draft. IMO, it would just be a wasted pick...and that's a reason you don't see anybody talking about the clowns taking Kalil if he's there.NJ-Buckeye;2141376; said:I'd tale Kalil and figure it out later... Richardson makes me drool... but it really really concerns me that the avg career of a RB is something like 3-4 yrs...
A top line makes an avg RB look good
A bad line makes a great RB look bad

Bookend tackles of Thomas/Kalil would permit McCoy to count everyone in the stadium and still have time to underthrow Massaquoi
