Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

You can have Jenks too.

And we'll be damn grateful

edit: No Dareus, Peterson or Green? - Trade down will make this night awesome with the right deal.

JJ Watt, Cam Jordan, Drake Nevis... all great Dline help to be had heading towards the 2nd round.

Question for some of my brethren. How would some of you feel about Ryan Kerrigan in the mid to late 1st?

I'd feel a lot better if we were still running 3-4. Not sure about him as a 4-3 DE, but I think we could do worse.

I would view him as a pure rush end. He might give up a little in the run game - but applies pressure on a more consistent basis. I'd be willing to live with that in a pass happy league.

If not. Big Cam will be available in a trade down! :oh:

If a teams gets good enough at one area, it can dictate what opponents do and can help mask deficiencies.. A great secondary can help the front seven. They can create more opportunities for coverage sacks. They can allow you to blitz more often. They can make the other team closer to one-dimensional.

If the DBs are great, I don't fear other teams going to the run game against the Browns. I mean, if other teams are running the ball because they have to and not just because they feel like it, isn't that progress?

As far as DL go - I'll admit I'm a little gun shy because of busts like Courtney Brown, Gerard Warren, etc. - and perhaps that's not sensible. The point about DL rotations also has merit though. For as little sense as it would seem to make to tie up that much first round money in players at one position, it makes even less sense to me to tie it up in positions where they players aren't playing every snap.

The only way I can see being pissed about what they do is if Peterson (or Green) are on the board and the either a) take a QB (which they obviously won't) or b) take Fairley or Bowers anyway, which I'm afraid they might. If they take Fairley over Peterson, you might be able to hear me yelling in Truth or Consequences.

I don't see him as diminant in an NFL 4-3...I think Kerrigan would be fine if he was a second pickup...however if he is the top name we got in this draft, we have better have gotten an awful lot in some other way.

I could definitely live with that. He has a very impressive motor, and God knows we need help getting to the QB.

I have the same feeling about DL. They know Dareus won't be there at 6, so I think they like either Fairley or Bowers. Let's pray the other guy they want is Peterson (or Green if he's there).

I read that real quick and thought you somehow meant Cam Newton, so at first I was like :pissed: and then I was all like

Big Show and Heckert are good personnel men. I can't, under any circumstances, see them doing that when they know they could trade down a few spots and get them...or at least a player of the same calibre.

I agree except that Pluto is the one Cleveland writer I really read constantly and respect a lot, and he was saying Sunday (with interview quotes) that Heckert was basically all over the Johnson of both guys...now could that be coy draftese? Sure it could, but he was waaayyyy too dismissive of the potential problems that each guy has for my liking, explaining them away in the kind of detail that had me thinking he was convincing himself as much as anyone else. I hope I'm wrong and you're right.

All this talk of them trading back into the 1st a second time is bringing back memories of 2007. The wave of relief I felt when Joe Thomas was announced was awesome. Then they slapped me across the face a few hours later trading back into the 1st and taking Quinn. :smash: That has since been alleviated considering how badly we fleeced Denver.
