Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

The rule sucks and it's supposed to be below the knees anyway not at them. They need to abolish some of these terrible rules they have made in the name of player safety. I hate the one where the QB ducks into arm on purpose to the personal foul for going to the head too.

Nice play there though.

I remember McCoy's first start was at Pittsburgh. I thought he would get eaten alive. The Steelers won because they're better right now but he was not overwhelmed or intimidated at all. He's going to be good.

I hope they go with Marecic and Hillis in the backfield. They could pound people and set up play action. I like the direction they are heading.

Why would a lifelong Cowboys fan care? Because my dad and brother were Browns fans and they're my AFC team. As long as they don't play the Cowboys I'm rooting for them. I hope to see a Cleveland-Dallas Super Bowl before I die.

I agree that they baby the QB's, but as flags go that hit on McCoy was worse than the OL cleaning up the pile. 10 years ago that was called playing football.

I would like to see more balls go to Little. He needs as many chances as possible.

WR Rod Windsor is an interesting pick up. He was a beast in Arena football this year and last. Saw him play in Pittsburgh in July. Worth a roster spot, IMO, given the Browns not having great depth at WR.

They won the first half, which in the second preseason game is the only part that even kinda counts. They did it without a lot of important players, too - like Hillis, Massaquoi, Fujita & Gocong. No significant injuries from the game either. It's a good thing, because the backups and fringe players are dog meat.

Browns have no depth, I would take a look at just about anyone New England releases

I think the starting unit on D will be decent if everyone can get healthy and they have a couple young DB's that should be better than what they've had in the past in the nickel. I agree that they don't really have any depth on D outside of the starting lineup. Hopefully they can add a few players when teams start making cuts.
On offense I'm pretty happy with the depth at WR (for now), TE, RB (assuming Hardesty gets back), and they have two QB's, which is as much as you can expect. I would definitely put a bid in for TP, but I don't know how high of a pick I would give up for him. He can't be any worse than Brown and has a much larger up side. IIRC the new CBA increased the game day roster to allow the 3rd string QB count as a normal player instead of an emergency player, which will be great for a slash type guy like TP.

I agree with pretty much you have said however they are so thin at outside linebacker it is scary. Titus Brown is a good player but he plays middle linebacker and Jackson looks like he is ready to go this year. Reminds me of the guy that I saw play at Maryland. Quick to the outside. I am also a little baffled about Taylor. Doesn't give much push on pass plays like Rubin but pleased with the rookie from Pittsburgh but we are lacking on the other side. You are correct about the DB's and hopefully some of the young guys can start showing up.

My only concern on offense is the depth at OL. We are woefully thin at that area and not just on the right side. Hopefully, you are correct about getting some free agents after the initial cuts.

My other big concern is with Moore possibly getting a second concussion which means that he might have to sit out a few games and he is probably our best combo receiver.
