Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

Hodges injury hurts. He had a really decent average for the Browns last year and there was not much return yardage when he was punting. It seems, for some strange reason, good NFL partners are hard to find. Some look very good in college but never pan out in the NFL.

um wut

Hodges does hurt...Christ there were lots of games the last 3 years where our punter has been our best offensive player.

Apparently the asking price for Osi Umenyiora has dropped from a first round pick to a second rounder and the Browns are supposedly one of five teams interested/seriously looking at him.

Hmmm, second rounder is a fair/good price for a guy like Osi (IMO), especially for a team with a shoddy D-line. But he is 29. So, no he is not old and still has a lot of good football left in him. But the Browns are not in a "win-now" mode, and I don't know if I would want to give up a 2nd for him.

Apparently the Ravens are also extremely interested and are running the cap numbers now to see if they can make it work, while still making sure they have money to re-sign their core guys to extensions eventually.

Well, whatever happens, I sure as hell don't want to see Osi in the AFC North unless it is with Cleveland.

If Osi is disgruntled in NY, he will be goddamned postal in Cleveland. He's a fantastic talent, but if he isn't trying, he's wasting roster space, and I am not sure he will give full effort in a Browns uniform (think Andre Rison).

folks forget 2 things.

1. the giants permitted osi to seek the trade, so osi is soliciting teams that he likes.

2. he still has to agree to an extension before any team trades for him, which also limits suitors. this also will lower the asking price. i'll be somewhat surprised if he even goes for a 2nd.

aw shut up:lol:

Supposedly they are bringing in a punter who played for Syracuse last season and had a net average of 43.3. At least the Browns won't have to buy him a new helmet

Litl, the Browns must have found enough money under the cap to invest in some free agents that won't be required to bring their own headgear. :wink2:

The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent punter Richmond McGee to replace Reggie Hodges, who suffered a season-ending injury.
McGee, recently waived by the Chicago Bears, was brought in for a tryout after Hodges tore his Achilles? tendon during practice Tuesday. . .

The Browns also signed cornerback Dimitri Patterson, who started nine games last season for the Eagles. He has appeared in 50 regular-season games since joining the NFL with Washington in 2005. Last season, Patterson recorded a career-high 62 tackles and four interceptions. . .

First round draft pick, Phil Taylor practiced with the Browns yesterday for the first time since signing his contract.

No. 1 draft pick Phil Taylor made his much-awaited debut at the Cleveland Browns training camp.
New coach Pat Shurmur hardly seemed to notice, although he put Taylor on the left side with the first-team defense right away Thursday.
"I feel great just to be out there with the guys practicing and learning a new defense," Taylor said after a brisk walkthrough.

In other Brown's news, Josh Cribbs was back on the field today! :)

Cribbs caught a few passes, lined up in the backfield a few times, and even completed a pass Friday at practice. . .
Cribbs returned to practice after missing a few days with a strained left knee.

With our depth (lack thereof) at tailback, is it entirely possible to see Cribbs get a few snaps there?

i cannot see that happening...if anything the wildcat...we had a similar discussion in the pryor thread and it ended with socks on cocks
