Anything new that you've read in the last few days, or is it just a gut feeling?

Maybe it's just Holmgren playing the GM game, but the other day in a presser he said people are making too much out of his original comments that "he wish he could get himself to like Jimmy more, but he can't." He then went on to say he had a specific reason for doing that before their meeting.

To me, it almost seems like he was testing the thickness of his skin. I just hope he wants teams to think he's willing to take Clausen at 7 so maybe they can get someone to bite in a trade. But Clausen is picking up a lot of steam in the public right now...and I hate it.

I guess I'm still optimistic (for no good reason) that if Berry is still there that he'd be the pick no matter what. If Berry's not there all bets are probably off though which is a bit of a scary thought.

Remember last year though, Mark Sanchez rocketing up the charts late is what allowed the Browns to be able to trade down and add picks, so this kind of thing can work both ways. I'd be mad if they picked Clausen, but if they're setting up a trade in the absence of Berry I'd be pretty damn happy.

If Jimmy becomes the face of Cleveland Browns football, I'm gonna have to start [strike]following games on the radio[/strike] ignoring the NFL until the experiment fails.

FIFY - I've lasted nearly 10 years with my ignoring of the Orioles until that damned lawyer dies, I can do the same with the Browns.

Same for me with Berry. Arguably the best and safest pick in the draft. I read an interview with him (sorry for no link) in which he said he's writing down every team that passes on him and gearing up when he plays them. Adrian Peterson said the same if I remember correctly (who coincidentally also fell to pick No. 7). Let's pray he's still there.

The thing is that it probably is Holmgren just playing the GM game. These people don't ever want to tip their hand.

However, I wouldn't ever stop rooting for our team. I just want to win games and if that is the direction we go in, then I am going to trust Holmgren (yea, I know right, trust in the Browns has gotten us really far). But really, I don't think were going to take Clausen.

if cleveland uses the #7 pick in the draft on a rotational rb that is somewhat similar to jerome harrison, they should be pimp slapped in the middle of NYC. No to Spiller.

Agree 100%. Spiller is not an every down back. If he ends up being drafted, I am going to be sick.

Question for anybody to answer but will Heckert be making any draft day picks or does this role exclusively belong to Holmgren?

Not sure how he isn't an "every down back" - I hate using the Chris Johnson reference but I'd say its pretty solid here. On top of the fact he's a fantastic recieving threat out of the backfield and in motion. If this is going to be more of a WCO type team then RB's with decent hands are crucial.

Chris Johnson is the exception, not the rule. I could just as easily come back with Reggie Bush. It's the same as using Drew Brees as an example when mentioning Troy Smith. It would be a poor value pick. With so many other holes, they're much better off picking a back lower (Gerhart?) to compliment Harrison. Picking Spiller at #7 is throwing the pick away. If the Browns were set at all the other positions that need help and were picking around #15 or below, I could get behind it. Not top-10.

I'm getting a feeling if somehow Berry is off the board, Derrick Morgan is the pick and I'm lukewarm to that idea.
