Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

ProFootballTalk.com - Brandon To The Browns?

Marshall to the Browns for Cribbs and a draft pick (or picks) is the rumor..

Heck of a WR.. top five in the league IMO. Has some baggage off the field.

Main issue for me right there. Has this guy gone 6 months without being in the news for something negative?

Sort of an honest question actually. I mean, I see him in the news for a few things but I'm not sure if it's just rehashed stuff from the same incident.

-Suspended for drugs
-Assault on his girlfriend

Is that correct? more/less incidents?

If the Browns and Cribbs are going to have issues, then may as well get what they can. I don't like giving up picks though either.

Him and [a focused] Braylon would be quite the tandem.

Do. Not. Want. We already have one prima-donna reciever and this guy is a hiccup away from suspension(s).

Not worth it for Cribbs and a pick? KRs are easier to find than top 5 WRs.

And I didn't think he was suspended for drugs? Thought it was just for his issues with that one girl.

You're right.

From what I'm reading (wikipedia and a couple articles), he's just got a lot of girlfriend/wife assault problems, plus one DUI. I think it's been with more than one girl now. At first it was a GF and the latest is his wife, I think. Guys got anger issues for sure.

A bit concerning, but he's a great talent. I'd be wary of giving up too much. Cribbs can do a lot of things, but I'm not sure what his value to the team will be this year. We shouldn't need him to be an all-around guy (QB, RB, WR, KR/PR), hopefully it's a more balanced and talented O. How many plays would be really affect? Compared to having D-Coordinators having to prepare for Edwards and Marshall at the wideout spots.

Here's a link that tracks some of the incidents. Nothing serious as far as actual convictions (sometimes not even arrests), but it's still ridiculous how much he's involved with the police. Have to believe his status (and possibly his power over the girl) has helped him keep the issues from being further pursued.

If he can clean it up off the field, I'd jump on this. You couldnt double team Braylon and Marshall, it would take a huge amount of pressure off the running game.

I would be shocked if ManKok made this deal. Too many character issues. Also Cribbs is a fan favorite and we need those. I'd say he would be a good fit for the Raiders.

I'd take Marshall baggage and all for the right price.

I don't think it would happen though. The Browns never make that kind of move. (I mean for a good player, not for a player w/ baggage. If Peyton Manning demanded a trade tomorrow and could be had for Cribbs and a pick, the Browns would find a way to not do it.)

I'm not sure I'm buying the rumor.

If Denver is really asking for Cribbs and a pick, you can probably get him for less.

Besides, doesn't Denver's defense suck? Why would they want a KR back for Marshall? If there's indeed a firesale waiting to happen, why not ask for depth there?

I'm sure we got one or two too many ex-Jets on D.

Look at the rest of their offseason and you'll have your answer. Denver is lapping the field in the race to the bottom. It's almost as if they're being run by Isiah Thomas.

My guess is that they're tanking this season so they can pick Tebow #1.

Good point... not sure what the deal is there to get rid of all the disgruntled guys (Especially WR's and QB's). It's the NFL... 30% of your guys are disgruntled. (Oh, and Josh wants a new deal too, at least sort of).

Another player with the J-E-T-S connection:wink2:
Browns pick up linebacker who was on Bills' special teams

The Cleveland Browns were awarded linebacker Blake Costanza from the Buffalo Bills off waivers yesterday.

Costanza played on Buffalo's special teams in all 16 games last season and led the club with 26 tackles and forced two fumbles.

Costanza, 25, was an undrafted free agent out of Lafayette who signed with the New York Jets in 2006, spent part of the 2007 season on Buffalo's practice squad and played special teams in the Bills' final three games that season.

Regarding the Marshall trade rumors for Cribbs and a pick, I think that I would make the deal because I don't know what Joshua is going to want after this season if not this season itself. He might play the favorite fans player to his advantage in trying to get big money.

We also need another veteran WR because we have no idea how long Stallworth is going to be suspended this year by the NFL. It could be 1/2 the season if not more but nobody knows right now. I would do the deal for Marshall. We can always get rid of him if he doesn't work out:)
