Former NFL Player Pleads Guilty in Prostitution Ring

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Former NFL player Bob Buczkowski pleaded guilty to helping run a million-dollar prostitution ring with his girlfriend out of his parents' suburban home...

A former defensive lineman at Pittsburgh, Buczkowski was drafted in the first round by the then-Los Angeles Raiders in 1986. He made appearances for the Raiders and Cardinals before playing 15 games for the Cleveland Browns in 1990. He was hampered by back problems and cut by Seattle in 1991.

The guy lived with his parents. :slappy:

By Sean McClelland
Staff Writer

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

After the morning practice Tuesday, a young Cleveland Browns employee was having trouble attaching a microphone to the collar of head coach Romeo Crennel.

Secondary needs healthy Bodden

Browns cornerback confident despite offseason surgery

By Patrick McManamon

Beacon Journal sportswriter

One year ago, Leigh Bodden was pushing Daylon McCutcheon and Gary Baxter for playing time in the Browns' secondary.
On Tuesday, McCutcheon and Baxter were gone and injured, respectively, and Bodden spent most of the team's first minicamp practice riding a stationary bike, watching inexperienced or new players at cornerback.

GETTING INTO A GROOVE Browns rookie quarterback Brady Quinn looks for a receiver during the opening day of the team?s minicamp Tuesday in Berea. Quinn, a lifelong Browns fan, says his goal is to start the opener against Pittsburgh. ?I grew up a Cleveland Browns fan. I understand the rivalry between Cleveland and Pittsburgh,? Quinn said.

BEREA Certain Stark County people remember the 1985 NBA playoffs like they happened yesterday. The Cavs sent Canton's Phil Hubbard against Boston superstar Larry Bird, who seemed to get every call in a series the heavily favored Celtics barely won.

It was hardly yesterday. One of Cleveland's most visible current Cavs fans was in his first year of life.

Brady Tyler Quinn was born in a rough era for the region's pro sports teams.

Bodden knows he's in for battle
Wednesday, June 13, 2007
By Steve Doerschuk

BEREA Leigh Bodden entered 2006 as a budding star, a cornerback no less an authority than Chad Johnson called a thoroughbred.

This season is a horse of a different color. Bodden is coming off arthroscopic ankle surgery.

"I feel good right now," Bodden said Tuesday after his latest round of rehab work. "I do get a little pain here and there, but I'll be fine."

Browns' QB drama heating up

Quinn's a quick study, but Frye has experience and Anderson has best arm.

By Sean McClelland
Staff Writer

Thursday, June 14, 2007

BEREA ? Everyone, it seems, has an opinion on who should start at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski, the long-ago Philadelphia Eagles QB, this week said he thinks rookie first-round draft choice Brady Quinn would be the wise choice because the Browns have "nothing else."

CLEVELAND BROWNS Lewis
Lewis savoring fresh approach

The first thing that strikes you about Jamal Lewis is his height.
This football giant who tormented the Browns for 500 yards rushing in two games in 2003 is a couple of inches shy of 6 feet tall.

Browns minicamp: Crennel on his QBs: They're all struggling

WAITING HIS TURN Browns quarterback Charlie Frye watches one of his fellow quarterbacks run the offense during a minicamp session Tuesday in Berea. Frye likes what he sees of new Offensive Coordinator Rob Chudzinski?s offense.
REPOSITORY Bob Rossiter

BEREA The buzz among media watching the Browns practice has it that Derek Anderson, who lit up the Chiefs is December, is the hot quarterback in June.

He's throwing more strikes and better fastballs than Charlie Frye and Brady Quinn. That counts for something. It isn't the only thing.

"D.A has the strongest arm. There's no secrets about that," Head Coach Romeo Crennel. "There's more to it than just having a strong arm. You have to be able to run the offense."

BROWNS: Thomas, Pittman involved in battle
Thursday, June 14, 2007
By Steve Doerschuk
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

BEREA The odds against 6-foot-5 Chase Pittman are taller than he is. He was one of two defensive linemen picked late in an NFL Draft viewed as running out of gas early.

"We'll be lucky if he becomes a player," a Browns insider says.

Pittman played for LSU in the SEC, but three days of minicamp convince even him LSU plus SEC doesn't equal NFL.
