Hey all, sorry for the long delay in responses.

On the health front, not much has changed. A few new developments, one or two that may become pressing enough that they absolutely have to be addressed, but nothing to really report here one way or another. Which is in of itself a form a good news. I think I've hit a plateau, which is actually a great thing in that I'm not obviously deteriorating. I don't know what to attribute this to, or how long it will last, but it's a welcome change to the freefalls that were all of 2005, and a good chunk of 2006.

As most of you know, I did finally get approved for SSDI, and it's been coming since December. Combined with the modest amount BP's advertising brings in after expenses are covered, we're no longer figuratively bleeding out of every available pore. Frankly, it's nice not having to go to sleep each night wondering how we'll keep the power on or rent up the next month. Next step is trying to correct some of the damage done over the years, and/or figure out how to improve our situation to the point where we can swing little extras like the rest of that dental work, and some tests that still need to be run (still not in a huge rush for 'fun' things like spinal taps and lung scopes, but it's nice to know that at some point we may actually be able to get them done.) Medical benefits don't start until someone's been in the SS system for 24 months (don't ask, I can't understand the value here -- in my opinion, give healthcare first, and money a FAR distant second), so it's going to be some time before I can really command some 'lucky' doc's attention.

I haven't been around on the site much lately, and this has been something that I've been very unhappy about. I enjoy my time here, and miss the conversations (participating and/or reading). Moreover, I perpetually feel guilty about leaving things in your collective good hands. I have been actively working in the background however. We have to switch IP addresses this coming month, and I've been preparing for that. Most tech-minded types would probably see this as a simple matter, and if so, please PM me, because I am entirely without guidance on this issue, and we could suffer downtime if and when I change the DNS server and not enough has been done locally. Apache's httpd.conf is good to go, I think, but there are some other server issues (most notably mail, the database, and an administrative interface I have) that may or may not just simply break with this happens -- but I digress. Our hosting company changed ownership recently. The departing crew was owned by a friend of a friend -- hence our years of free hosting, and the terrific deal we got when it had to stop being free. We haven't seen any unfortunate consequences of this ownership transfer yet, beyond having to shut down and ship back the old machine we have been using as a backup, but we lost our good friend (and local tech) Blair in the process, which means I have no one local if and when the machine needs direct intervention. Not sure how to address that -- any IT-type BP'ers live in or around Phoenix?

So, not just a ton of "great" news, but having no bad news is always a welcome scenario from where I'm sitting. I'm still on a free-ride (academic scholarship) through Penn State's World Campus (I threatened to drop out if they managed to upset our basketball team a few days ago, so have no questions about my loyalties), and have been enjoying the stimulation that has come with that. A lot more than muscle can atrophy when you're physically limited and confined to a small area, and it seems likely that I can have my old 'online' job as a scoring leader back for Princeton's Educational Testing Service (the SAT & GRE people) which would be another modest but very welcome revenue stream that could go towards self sustenance. I've been taking a full-time course load, and am presently banging away trying to get health benefits for FT online students (hey, have to fight and dig at every possible angle) -- but all of that commands a lot of my time and attention right now.

BP continues to be a pleasure, and genuinely our 'saving grace' between what would have been absolute catastrophe and where I am as I write this. Never wonder about my interest (or lack thereof) in the site itself, it, and particularly the community around it, are of monumental importance to me, and I hope people are still enjoying themselves around here. Just because I'm not asking "okay, what can we be doing better?" every couple months, I hope others are, and that people still feel able and motivated to step up and create something(s) our community lacks.

Anyway, that's the update. Thanks for the interest.
