Cincinnati Reds 2023 (sell the team Bob)

Gibault gave up the 3-run homer to the Braves' best, Olson, Sims gave up the tying homer to the Padres' best. Maybe we don't have relievers, except maybe Diaz, who can really challenge the other teams' most dangerous hitters. So, it seems to me it might be better to pitch around those guys. Walk Tatis, so he's on first with 2 outs - big deal.

As I've said before, Sims cannot locate the way he needs to to be effective at shutting down good hitters.

In Olson's case his homers like the one off Gibault weren't on pitches in the strike zone,... but they were over the middle of the plate, iirc.

There is no Votto next year. This is the last roundup and it's because of his contract and tenure.

He's taking the roster spot that could be CES right now.
I think you have a lot more faith in your FO than you should.

Unless Votto retires, which I also doubt, there's no chance they move him. I guess they could buy him out but again with the option year, but I think the people pulling the strings won't do it.

Would they carry a part time DH at $20 mill? I wouldn't but if Votto wants to finish as a Red I could see it being messy.

As cynical as I am, I am can bet with confidence that Votto will hang it up before he comes back and embarrass himself or even takes a roster spot from someone who’s got a future.

I’ll bet you anything you care to wager.

(And pray to Woody that I’m right. )

I think you are missing one piece of information...THIS is the last year of Votto's contract. he's a FA at the end of this season....so he's either retiring or signing with another team or he's coming back to Cincy on a very cheap deal.
