Cincinnati Reds 2021 (because we have to, I guess)

Senzel back on the DL after a doctor determined he still had fluid in his knee. Apparently he was trying to play through it. MLB granted the Reds a reversal on the option burnt when he was sent on his rehab assignment.

With tonight’s win, the Reds are 1 game back of the fading Padres for the second wild card, and the Father’s remaining schedule is fucking brutal.

I actually miss Dusty Baker right now. I don’t trust Bell to not fuck this up.

Reds win. Mets lost. Cardinals are losing. Padres are losing (though that means the Phillies are winning, which is also a problem).

Going to be a wild six weeks. At this point the box score watching probably turns to the NL West. Giants and Dodgers in a dogfight is good for the Reds, because I personally don’t like the Reds odds against either in a one-game playoff, so I don’t want either getting a commanding lead on their division and setting their lineup ahead of time.

Reds officially pull ahead of the Padres in the Wild Card race for the first time. San Diego has lost 9 of 11 against Miami/Arizona/Colorado/Philadelphia, and they still have 8 serieses left against teams in playoff position currently. The Reds have just 3 current playoff opponents left (and one series is just a 2-gamer). At this point, I feel St Louis is the team the Reds most need to watch out for, especially with two serieses against them still on the schedule.
