What needs to be done to fix the current state of the team: (Your opinion or priorities may vary)
1. Fire Zac Taylor - A fish rots from the head down. SoP is most culpable for the current poor state of the team but we all know he's not going anywhere till the grim reaper comes calling. Zac is responsible for picking coordinators and position coaches. He's also calling the plays. Its obvious the teams not trying hard anymore and once you've lost the locker room, you've lost everything.
I would prefer someone with previous Head Coaching experience but an up and coming coordinator might work too. In either case, somebody new is needed to lead the team after this disastrous season.
2. A new Left Tackle needs to be found. Orlando Brown has pretty much given up even trying out there. KC fans tried to warn us but we, and the front office, didn't listen. We have holes all over this team but LT is the most important imo and the most glaring. They'll never spring the money for a high priced Free Agent so we should use our top 5 (Maybe top 3) pick next year on a replacement.
3. Another DE needs to be found too. Its pretty obvious Miles Murphy is a bust. Some may argue DT is a higher priority but either way, Trey is almost certainly gone after this season and that leaves Shermar as our only viable starting DE. A mid-level veteran might be gettable in Free Agency.
4. A new Safety - SoP doesn't like to admit it but Safety is an important position in the modern NFL and we don't really have any great ones. Battle might be serviceable for now and you can't replace the entire defense, as much as we'd all like to. Using our 2nd round pick next year on a new starting Safety might be our best option.
5. Another starting quality Guard. We've tried everything to solidify this position with little or no success. Fairchild might be serviceable but its too early to tell. Perhaps a new HC might get something more out of him. Free Agency would be out best chance to find someone who can step in and play right away next season plus, our history of drafting offensive linemen is poor at best.
6. Another CB - Assuming we've spent our 1st pick next year on a LT and our 2nd on a Safety, using our 3rd on another CB makes sense. Again, if a veteran can be had in free Agency for what SoP is willing to shell out, so be it. But I doubt that will happen.
7. Acquiring Defensive Line depth. Nabbing a veteran DT or using our later picks to shore up the DL is a must. We lack talent there and depth. You can't fix everything in one off season, especially the way this organization clutches onto every penny. But adding some bodies to our D-line seems like a priority.
8. Finding a decent back-up QB. Browning is history after his terrible performance this season. Signing a veteran back-up to Joe Fragile is a must. Drafting a long term answer next year would be advisable too. We can't keep signing veterans every off-season. Someone's got to come in and solidify the back-up spot long term.
That's how I see it. Thoughts....?
