Cincinnati Bengals (Same Ole Bengals)

2020 NFL Draft: Trent Williams, Yannick Ngakoue among 17 veterans who could be traded on draft day

Andy DaltonCIN • QB • 14
The Bengals have been shopping him for months. Any talk from Cincy about him potentially backing up presumptive No. 1 pick Joe Burrow is just meant to ignite Dalton's obviously dim market. At the end of the day, he should be somewhere else in 2020, even if it means the Bengals agreeing to swallow a chunk of his $17.7 million 2020 cap hit. The biggest holdup? He'll probably be cut anyway.

Potential fits: Bills, Broncos, Jaguars, Patriots

Patriots team to Bengals: I'll give you a used "deflated" football for Dalton, a 3rd round draft pick, and $12M.

Bengals coach: Joe Burrow is as good as advertised

Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor is all smiles with one of the biggest days in franchise history looming.

Taylor has enjoyed getting to know Joe Burrow, he told ESPN's Get Up on Wednesday morning. The former LSU quarterback is expected to be the Bengals' selection with the first overall pick in the NFL draft, which begins Thursday night.

"We feel very comfortable with him as a prospect," Taylor told ESPN. "We talked to a lot of guys but certainly formed a really good relationship with Joe and been really impressed with everything we've seen from him."

The Bengals haven't told Burrow he will be the top pick, even though everyone, including the QB, can connect the dots. Sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini that the Bengals want to wait until they are on the clock to make it official, giving Burrow that special moment when he gets the call from his new team.

Throughout the week, Taylor has been hesitant to say anything definitive about Burrow, the recent Heisman Trophy winner who led LSU to a national championship during the 2019 season. In an interview with local reporters Tuesday, Taylor declined to comment when asked if Cincinnati was in contract negotiations with Burrow but said there are no issues with the situation.

The Bengals have the first overall pick for the first time since 2003, when they selected USC quarterback Carson Palmer. Cincinnati is coming off a 2-14 season in 2019 and could lean on Burrow to help lead the franchise to its first playoff victory since January 1991.

"He's as advertised," Taylor said Wednesday morning. "All the things we heard about him, we saw from our first meeting with him and as we've gotten to know him over the last couple weeks."

Also, been doing some mock drafts because what the hell else sports-related is out there, right? Mock drafts are stupid, but since I love them, kind of surprised at who is there and who isn't. Here was my mock draft:

Round 1 - QB Joe Burrow (duh)
Round 2 - LB Kenneth Murray (no way he would really be available here...I like the highest ranked OL, DE, LB or WR here depending on how others draft...more likely would be Baun, Epensa, )
Round 3 - OT Austin Jackson (again, don't think he will be here...but also like Isiah Wilson here too...Tee Higgins also has my eye here if available)
Round 4 - TE Thaddeus Moss (maybe a little high at the beginning of Round 4, but I really like getting Burrow one of his favorite targets at TE now the Eifert is gone...we do really need a TE in this draft)
Round 5 - WR John Hightower (really like Hightower and think he is underrated big time...mocks have him going anywhere from Rounds 3-7)
Round 6 - LB Shaquille Quarterman (we need LBs bad and I really like Quarterman...again, do not think he will be available by Round 6, but would even take him in Round 5 if he is there)
Round 7 - OT Saahdiq Charles (highly doubt he is available here and that makes 3 LSU players, but why not?...we need help on the OL)

- I would like to see a pass rusher somewhere above and really like Baun or Epensa with pick #2 if either is available...Delpit would be an amazing steal too if he is there. We need another WR, but this class is super deep and we can probably get a good one like Hightower relatively late. TE is a must at some point in the first 5 rounds imo.
You've got 3 first rounders for the first 3 picks.
