Cincinnati Bengals (2011 Season)

Bengals working toward deal with Terence Newman

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/27/bengals-working-toward-deal-with-terence-newman/

The Bengals have signed Jason Allen and brought back Pacman Jones, but it doesn?t seem they are done at cornerback yet. Speaking at the owners meetings, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said that the team is working toward signing Terence Newman. Newman was released by the Cowboys earlier this offseason after a mediocre 2011 season, but Lewis and the Bengals think a reunion with defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer might get him back on track. ?We would love to still add Terence to our football team,? Lewis said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. ?As he said his best years of his career was when he was playing for Mike Zimmer.

:slappy: How did I know Mikey would be more than interested in Terrence Newman? Maybe because the same exact thing played out a few years ago with Roy Williams.

That being said, he'd still improve what the Bengals currently have... So I'm all for it.

They need to draft a young corner pretty early...Mike Brown will use the logic that signing washed up veterans to improve depth will mean they don't have to draft a corner early.

Call me crazy, but I wouldn't mind seeing them snag up Janoris Jenkins if he's still up at 17. Sure he's had his weed issues, but so do some of the guys on the current roster. So I say go for him.

I think they need to draft a new cheerleader's captain .. :)

It's like the immoral trifecta - a cheerleader, a teacher and a minor are all in the same room having sex together (and only two people were there).

COVINGTON, Ky. - A Cincinnati Ben-Gals cheerleader is facing criminal charges for allegedly having sex with a minor.
A Kenton County grand jury indicted Sarah Jones Thursday of first degree sexual abuse and unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities. The sexual abuse charge carries a punishment of up to five years in prison.
Cheryl Jones, Sarah's mother, was indicted for tampering with evidence. Cheryl is the principal at Twenhofel Middle School in Independence.

Jones resigned from her teaching position at Dixie Heights High in November 2011. She is currently the team captain of the Ben-Gals cheerleading squad.
Lawyers for both Sarah and Cheryl Jones said Thursday afternoon the mother and daughter will be pleading not guilty. Sarah's lawyers say their client is maintaining her innocence and call the indictment of Cheryl Jones "completely baseless."

Ehh...I'd much rather have Kirkpatrick and I think he will be available. I think Kirkpatrick has a skill set and size that brings a new element to the table.

And agreed on LBs, no need to take a LB with any of our picks. On that note, is Keith Rivers ever coming back from IR?

son of a bitch........ they signed Toast Newman

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/11/bengals-sign-terence-newman/

The Cincinnati Bengals are saying hello to Terence Newman.

Newman, a free agent cornerback who was released by the Cowboys this year, has signed with the Bengals, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Cowboys took Newman with the fifth overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft, and he’s been a starter for them ever since. But Newman struggled in 2011, and the Cowboys decided they needed to upgrade at the position by signing free agent cornerback Brandon Carr.

now watch Mike Brown use this as an excuse to pass on drafting a high upside corner in the draft

Keith Rivers shipped to the NYG for a 5th round pick in this years draft as well....

http://rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4728/keith-rivers

Giants acquired WLB Keith Rivers from the Bengals in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2012 draft.

It's the last pick in the fifth round, so it's as close as you can possibly get to the sixth. Rivers developed a bit of a "soft" reputation in as the former No. 9 overall pick in the draft with Cincinnati, but he was not averse to playing through injuries and is a quality run defender when healthy. Look for Michael Boley to start at middle linebacker for the Giants. Rivers should handle the weak-side duties, with Mathias Kiwanuka on the strong side. Apr 11 - 2:06 PM
