Cincinnati Bengals (2011 Season)

Well, if anything can be said about both Still and Thompson is they are penetrating DT's, not block eaters. So they can play big DE's in run stopping situations.

They would actually both be pretty good 3-4 DE's. Perhaps they fill the role you mentioned, but did they really need 2 of them?

who knows....maybe Sims is toast? He has had some injury problems the past few years, and only signed a 1 year deal in the offseason (maybe he wanted to walk but couldnt find any takers?)

Yeah, he had trouble finding people willing to give him starting DT money. I personally really like the guy when he is healthy. I have seen him overpower the center and sometimes both a guard and center. Perhaps his durability and endurance are a major question. Yet when he is in there he can really blow up the run game.

In the end this is mostly nitpicking. Overall I am happy with the draft. I think they could have gone a couple of different directions which would have helped, but none of them were actually bad picks (like in the past...Seattle's draft felt like one of the Bengal's of old drafts).

Yea Seattles draft is comedy

Jacksonville took a punter in round 3.......

while not the sexiest draft, I think all the players the Bengals have taken so far will produce in the NFL

It's like the Bengals and Browns both hired the same firm to draft for them..Both of them are trying to run away from any pick that might have talent.

I think the The Cleve/Cincy threads should just merge for next years draft..call it the Browngals..or the Bengowns..it wouldn't matter.

I guess I have to retract this comment...The Browns are in a league of their own. Decent Job Bengals.

Big round for the Bengals? Who Dey gonna pick?

We could use a center...would love to see us pick up Brewster. All we have is Cook at C and he isn't exactly a world beater. I think Brew would be an oustanding value at this point. Also wouldn't mind a gamble on Burfict...a LB would help and the talent is there...worth the gamble late 5th round. We'll probably go with 3 DT's though.

And looking back, I was a little harsh on our draft. Just to clarify, I think Thompson was likely the best player left and I have high hopes for him...seems like yesterday I was watching his unbelievable film and hoping he would become a Buckeye. And Still could be a monster...I just see Sims, Atkins, and Peko as darn good players, although depth doesnt hurt in our division against the run. Just wish we would've went with Sanu, then Miller since we already had Still.

Decent 5th round...I like Prater on special teams and as a prospective Nickel. The Jones pick I'm not crazy about though...first, we passed on Juron Criner at WR. Second, Polk was available at RB. However, they redeemed themselves with the Iloka pick at safety...guy has crazy amounts of potential. I'm hoping we take Polk or Herron with our last pick in the 6th round and it will be a successful draft. Then possibly get Brew in free agency if he doesn't get picked.

Heard lots of good things about their pick on the Boise St S...seems like a lot of people are raving about the Bengals draft..I'm liking it, no boneheaded picks (unlike the browns)

Only complaint is they didn't trade up into the late 2nd rd to get a RB
