Cincinnati Bearcats (official thread)

Fired John Brannen says he's disappointed in Cincinnati Bearcats' decision for 'long list of reasons'

His attorney, Tom Mars, issued a statement later Friday, alleging that the firing before what he called an "incomplete and entirely pretextual" investigation ended was done so the school could hire a "higher profile" coach. He also alleged that Brannen declined a seven-figure settlement made by the university's outside counsel.

"John Brannen's lawyers will take the appropriate steps through the judicial process to protect and enforce his legal rights and remedies," Mars wrote.

Brannen and UC agreed to a six-year, $9-million deal on April 14, 2019 that will pay him $1.5 million every year starting on April 1 through the 2024-25 season, and terminates on March 31, 2025. It is 75-percent guaranteed, meaning that if Brannen is let go by the university at any point during the length of terms, he will be paid 75-percent of the remaining compensation.

Just sayin':

$1.5M x 4 more years X 75% = $4.5M

Apparently The Juggalos 7 figure settlement offer was significantly less than $4.5M then his contract calls for.....:ohno:

I guess we'll find out what the reason for firing Brannen was eventually. Tom Mars' public statements appear to be your typical "my client has been wronged" boilerplate. No idea whether they have any factual basis at this point. UC isn't saying anything.

I'm going to write a figure on this piece of paper. It's not quite as large as the last one but I think you'll find it fair.

Don't Worry UC Fans, New Head Coach Wes Miller Says He's He's Married To The Program Because He's Single And Doesn't Have Kids

What a fucking quote. Ohh you worried about him leaving for another job, UC fans? Guess what? He's married to the game. Wonder if he wears a ring like The Rocket? No room for silly things like marriage or kids when you got a program to run. I mean, sure, Billy Gillispie said this too when he took over Kentucky and that went as shitty as possible, but Wes Miller isn't an asshole. He's going to be successful and eventually coach UNC. Wife? Been there done that.

That's a man dedicated to turning the Cincinnati program around. He also made sure to walk in and start shit with Xavier right away:

'It's On My Ass. God Damn That Was Unacceptable' - Wes Miller Wants Cincinnati Fans To Boo Him, Apologized For Wasting Their Time And Money

We've reached the point of the year where coaches are trying to save their jobs, trying to show there's something still there. Put Wes Miller in that category for me. He hasn't exactly been awesome at Cincinnati and they are going to miss the Tournament again. This was supposed to be the year where they looked the part, where they competed. Now they are apologizing for being a disaster:

It's also not lost on me that Wes Miller wants to be booed and UC doesn't have a home game again this year. Only thing to do is for fans to show up to practice and boo him.

Some fans are talking about what it would take for UC to get into the NCAA, but I don't think we're good enough to get past the first round anyway. If Wes Miller was the guy, I think we'd know by now. But if he's fired before April 1, 2025, his buyout is $13 million, so he's not going anywhere. Thanks John Cunningham.
