Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

Major conf. titles...34........2...
When was Cincinnati in a Major Conference? They were in like, what, 87 different conferences over the years, along with being independent for a good portion of my lifetime. Before joining the Big Least, they were a member of Conference USA. ...or is it a major conference if it has a direct BCS tie-in? You know, like Mountain West and the WAC will have soon?

Your stats are wrong. It says major conference titles, and then lists 2 for Cinci. They have to be in a major conference before they can win one.

Y'know, you guys are probably right. But the BCS does consider the Big East to be a major conference, and UC's conference championships in 2008 and 2009 gave them the right to attend BCS bowls, where they were jail sexed and plunger raped, respectively. But Bearcat fans won't have to worry about that happening again this year....

In response to Muck: A quick note on UC's Hall of Famers. All three were coaches at UC (Frank Cavanaugh, George Little, and Sid Gillman), and they led the Bearcats for a combined 9 seasons for a combined record of 65-22-4 (.736 winning pct). So, none of them was a coaching legend (at least not at UC) like Woody Hayes or Bear Bryant or Joe Paterno etc. etc. etc. As mentioned previously, UC has never had a player inducted into the CFB Hall of Fame.

And this post encapsulates Cincinnati fans to me:

I'm a native Cincinnatian who grew up thinking of myself as a Cincinnatian above all else. Being from "Ohio" meant Cleveland, Columbus...or some other God forsaken place.

I've never had any affinity for OSU and have even less now that UC's football program is on the rise.

In three weeks I'll hold my second degree from UC. That's where I paid my tuition, that's where I studied, and that's where I cheer for my college team.
It's why I don't root for the Reds or the Bengals either. I understand all Cicinnatians are like this douchebag, but there are too many that are.

Also, the academics in OSU, you are absolutely correct, OSU is pretty much the default school if you're not accepted anywhere else. That being said, this pretty much means by default that Ohioans and those outside of Ohio know of OSU. You know of the existence of OSU rather than say BGSU, (which if I get asked once more why I went to college in Kentucky if I'm from Ohio I may have to smack someone...). OU on the other hand is an exclusive school, meaning as much as I love OSU the standards to get into OU are higher, so again by default more people are accepted to OSU and more apply hence the reason people tend to think of OSU as "the" school for Ohio... and yes I got a huge kick out of being pompous and putting quotations around the, kinda like OSU... lol

Even the poster trying to defend OSU is a dumbass...

Thanks for the clarification!

Reading the UC board just reaffirmed for me why I grew up a Cleveland fan. I always viewed NE Ohio as Ohio State territory - and since the Buckeyes come first and foremost for me, I appreciated that Clevelanders, by and large, shared that same love.

Columbus/Cleveland/Ohio State. I'll take that combination over anything the Queen City has to offer.

I have no problem with a guy supporting his alma mater, UC in this case, but the vitriol directed at tOSU is childish. It does, however, go along with the denial that Cincinnati is part of Ohio, as if being part of Kentucky would be an improvement. I'm 5 hours from Cincinnati so I haven't seen this arrogance first hand.
