Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

My only problem is that every time UC talks about how good they are, they have to bring OSU into the discussion. We DO have the best damn fans in the land. It seems like Cincy fans are the ones that are paranoid about being "accepted." Look, Cincinnati has a really good team this year, probably even better than OSU. But act like you've been there before, don't act like the little brother going insane because he just beat his older brother in a video game for the first time and wants to run and tell everyone.

Why should they? They never have been there before. That's the way fans are the first time their teams show signs of life. I can live with it.

I'm not going to slam UC, but again: anyone who believes this year's Bearcats team would prevail over the Buckeyes in a best-of-7 matchup is delusional. They do have a very nice team, though, and Kelly deserves props for bringing them to the level they're on, as does Dantonio.

Yes, that is annoying...

but do you think OSU and its fans are innocent in this debate? Doesn't it usually take two to tango?

OSU excercised a right in its contract with UC to move the 2012 game to Columbus instead of playing it at PBS. Now, I understand why OSU did it. OSU has the largest athletic budget in the country and the money they make on home games is through the roof. Makes sense to me. UC also got a nice buyout which is helping with facility upgrades...

but to the average bandwagon UC fan...and lets be honest, almost all of them are but its hard to be a fan when your school has never won at football before...the timing of the buyout looked odd because that is when Kelly and the Cats were building on the momentum started by Mark D. Even to an outside observer it looked funny that the premiere program in the state of Ohio was moving a game away from the home of the up and coming program to the south who also plays in a BCS conference.

I'm going to retire from this debate for awhile. I'm not trying to 'win' the argument. For the most part I have agreed with what many of you have said that has bothered you about UC fans. But we are not all 'douchebags' as was suggested a page back.

In other UC news, the Kelly impact on recruiting in the Cincinnati area is growing. A thee star LB recruit from Wyoming H.S in Cincinnati de-committed from Indiana yesterday and committed to the Bearcats.

"UC football news
From: Tim Adams of BearcatLair.com

Brian Kelly's Bearcats picked up a nice recruiting surprise on Sunday when Jibreel Black from Wyoming High School called Indiana and informed the Hoosier coaching staff that he had changed his mind about attending Indiana.
Black then made the call to Cincinnati and verbally committed to the Bearcats.
The local star called Bearcat Lair with the news on Monday afternoon and explained the reason for his change of heart.
"The reason I made this decision, was it was in my heart," said Black. It was too good an opportunity right in front of my face, and I just had to take it. I still think IU is a great program, but I felt UC was one of the best opportunities that I had, and I couldn't pass it up."

I dont think thats a fair way to look at it. I dont know if there are a lot of ppl on here that would think that we would beat UC if we played them in the normal ONE game format, but I think thats beside the point. What the UC fans need to realize is that were not hating on them for having a quality team. This sums it up:

Your insults of OSU fans indicate that an OSU board may not be the place for you. Why not take this garbage to a UC board, where you can all pat yourselves on the back with thoughts that OSU is too scared to schedule UC, UC is the real football power in Ohio, etc.?

That is most definitely an unfair characterization of H&G's argument.

Who cares what the "average bandwagon UC fan" thinks about it?? This decision is all about money, and it ends up working out better for both sides. Those who actually follow CFB on a regular basis are not surprised by such a move.

If UC wanted that game in cincy they should have refused to sign the contract with the buyout clause in it.

What is his argument then? I didn't see any coherent point made in the middle of those insults.

The same points he's been making the entire time?

UC has a very good team this year.
OSU has a very good team, but UC might be better this year.
Dantonio and Kelly have made big strides in creating a good football program at UC. They are nowhere near the program that OSU is, but maybe in 20 years, if Kelly sticks around or a good replacement is found, and the cards fall right, UC could have a great program. Still wouldn't be OSU, but could become a fixture in the polls.
A good number of current UC football fans ARE bandwagon fans who hopped on now that the team is good.
Some UC fans (as well as the administration and a couple players) are acting like asses.
Some OSU fans are making asses of themselves by over-reacting to the UC fans/admin/players being asses.

I mean, if that one post was the only thing he ahd psoted in here, sure. Let him burn. But he's shown the ability to be faily objective when it comes to discussing the two programs.

The more you cry with glee for it to happen, the more scared it honestly makes you sound...I mean, really, you sound like a scUM fan rooting for Tressel to go to the NFL.

'Best Damn Fans In The Land'? Sometimes I wonder if its not "The Most Paranoid Fans in the Land"

While I don't necessarily agree with them, I just don't read these as particularly inflammatory or insulting.

In regards to the first part....I don't think it's as much a case of OSU fans wanting Kelly to go to ND because they are scared of UC becoming too good, although that may be part of it, as much as it is OSU fans wanting Kelly to leave so that UC will return to mediocrity and the new found obnoxious fans will go back in the woodwork.

In regards to the 2nd part, I wouldn't say "paranoid" but I might say "insecure". Look at the responses anytime someone in the media criticizes OSU. Over-reaction galore to some stupid-ass comment made by some nobody on ESPN.

I might add, spelling mistakes aside , he has provided good info to the BP community in the past when Ohio State has recruited Cincinnati-area high schoolers. The guy is also a Buckeye fan, as evidenced by his avatar and his posting history here, yet because he is sticking up for his alma mater he's getting kicked around. If more UC football fans were like H&G, that is intelligent and thoughtful discussion, there wouldn't be this mini-feud happening. Of course I could say the same for any fan base, including Ohio State's.

Bucky Katt, bkochmc

Thank you for seeing the objectivity in my posts. You nailed my argument(s) perfectly even if you do not agree.

I see that you might be correct. Apparently, I can spell just fine, just can't type OR read for shit.
