Chris Holtmann (ex-tOSU Bball coach, HC at DePaul)

Queue the “we are a football school and should be happy finishing top 5 in the big ten basketball” folks.

I think CCH is a good guy, and a solid coach, but he's not special.

The most frustrating part is you see all great coaches have their teams adapt their attitude; Izzo is like a football coaching who got stuck with basketball teams and his teams often reflect that tough mentality, Juwan is a finesse player who is cocky and wants to be seen as tough and I think his teams reflect that, Coach K was quietly intense, massive competitor and intelligent, his teams matched....Bill Self is cool, calm, and confident and same for him.

CCH is....bland. And his teams represent that, an utter lack of leadership and eventually enough is enough....and it's been enough.

CH is the king of high floor, low ceiling teams. Every season with his players. He keeps filling up on mediocre transfers instead of pushing for potentially higher end talent. That B1G coach of the year was on the strength of some key Thad holdovers, and CH continues to distance himself from what worked best. Dude puts together imbalanced teams with no backbone. He is what he is at this point.

This is what, five years in a row of the same routine? At this point you fit into one of two boxes - not being a major bball fan and thinking, "eh, it's good enough", or you've seen enough and it's time to move on.

Thad showed what this program is capable of, and it's certainly more than this. Sensabaugh and his development is the only reason for me to keep following them this year, but he has likely played himself into the 1st round and will be a one and done. This team is capable of so much more - I don't pretend to know who the next coach should be, but we just need an identity, any kind of one. The mood around this program is apathetic and that should never be the case for any program at Ohio State.
