I wouldn't tell either one to "hit the road"; however.
1) Seth Towns really hasn't been healthy since he's been at Ohio State. He was a Freshman at Harvard in 2016, that would make him 24 - 25 years old. Considering his age, chronic issues, hasn't really played meaningful minutes and/or up to his potential since 2017/2018 at Harvard, and the fact that he has (at least) a degree from Harvard and probably a post graduate degree from Ohio State; I'll say it's time for him get on with his life after college basketball (i.e. employment in his chosen career field).

2) Justice Sueing has to be 23 -24 years old and after 5 years in college should have graduated too. Maybe it's time for him to move on with his life after college basketball too. However, he has consistently scored in double digits and would add some Senior leadership on what looks like to be a predominantly young team in 2022/2023; if he wanted to return I'd welcome him back.

Am I missing something? Where are we getting 13 boards a game from (EJ & Kyle) next season? Unless there's someone better in the portal, I hope Sueing returns.

Describing Holtmann as mediocre is absurd. He's been a very good coach, though unquestionably not yet an excellent one.

I agree that his tenure so far here hasn't been stellar, and I agree we need to strive for excellence and championships. But I believe that it's too early to conclude that Holtmann can't or won't achieve those metrics.

He hasn’t won anything of significance. Jim O’Brien won championships and took a team to the Final Four. Holtmann lost at home to a shitty Nebraska team. He’ll get an occasional big upset and then answer that with baffling losses. He’s Mike Leach but with a friendly demeanor and without entertaining press conferences.

If he doesn’t compete for a conference championship next year, and doesn’t make it to the Sweet Sixteen, he needs to go. That’s a low bar and there are lots of coaches who would love the chance to outdo his less than stellar performance.

A B1G conference championship is a low bar?

We'll see how next season plays out. If it's bad, yeah, Holtmann might get fired. No clue who Gene might hire and if there aren't any great candidates and Holtmann has another top third of B1G/R32 type season (which is not bad, mediocre, or average--no matter how often our football fanbase fails to understand that), then I doubt Chris gets canned. The 2023-2024 season has good potential.

If OSU can get a certifiable upgrade, I'm all for it. But that would be a much more difficult and expensive task than many of our most vocal malcontents would seem to believe.

Only way I see Holtmann being exited is if the program implodes (similar to Matta's last year). That being said, given what's coming back, next year's team has a very low floor.
Next couple of years depend on the incoming class living up to their rankings.

Gene should’ve been fired a decade ago when he cost the Buckeye football team a national championship by not self-imposing a postseason ban in 2011.
