Chip Kelly (OC Las Vegas Raiders)

Wonder if he put in that play he called against us that chip called for the 1st td in the playbook before he left.

We might need to throw him a hundo for his service

Interesting if that’s the case. I watched something on YT that went over that formation. SIAP but apparently one of the things that made Howard so good this year (Day mentioned this after the game in a presser) that every play called had three options from which Will could switch to based on the look that the D was giving him.

Anyhow, this formation was used twice earlier in the game from which they ran. They set up the easy button tuddy using the pass from the earlier looks they gave.

Loved it.

Not only that someone I was watching said he has a tendency to flip his feet when running a reverse and we made a big show of having him flip his feet to give that key to the defense

It will be exciting to see how Chip uses the strengths of some of the new pieces to the puzzle next year. Namely, Klare, Peoples (not the complete back like Q and Tre) and Donaldson. Innis will fill in nicely for EE and our OL should be a strength. The big question mark is at QB. Very young in the QB room. Lots of talent but young.

I don't see Kelly going back to the pros, it's never suited him. I also doubt he takes a HC job at the college level. Could be wrong, but where else would that leave him except retirement? I guess I say that right after Knowles just happened.

Seems like Chip has always had NFL ambitions. No way he takes a HC gig in college again, though.

Bucks will be fine either way. Coordinators come and go; we have always replaced them!

Alternating between bad coordinator hires has been the thing that has screwed the team out of title aspirations more than anything else over the past decade.

2013 (defense bad)
2014 (two good coordinators, national champs)
2015 (offense bad)
2016 (offense bad)
2017 (defense bad)
2018 (defense bad)
2019 (two good coordinators, absolute screw job against Clemson barely keeps the team out of an epic matchup against LSU for the championship)
2020 (defense bad)
2021 (defense bad)
2022 (two good coordinators, get screwed against Georgia with a non-targeting call out of an easy matchup against TCU for the championship)
2023 (uncharacteristic mediocre QB play, UM in Day’s head, and Hartline promotion moves this away from a good OC year)
2024 (two good coordinators, national champs)

The right coordinator hire is pretty fucking important.
