Chiefs at Browns(-1.5)

a lot of people are saying that we should fire mangini and that the obvious choice would be john gruden. he's a homlgren guy with a ring. however, i think it would be a terrible choice. his biggest success came under what tony dungy built and when he put his own guys into the system, he struggled and ultimately failed. his offense was never that good in tampa and he was thought of as an offensive guy. he may be the most overrated coach in the past decade.

His biggest success came with a team Tony Dungy built, against a team that HE built. He built a team under Al Davis that made it to the Super Bowl in spite of being coached by Bill Callahan . That's almost as impressive as his Super Bowl win itself.

The Buccaneers failed after that because their best players got old and their ownership got cheap.

good point. maybe i should take the fact that he could build a superbowl team with al davis as an owner as a bigger accomplishment.

Isn't Gruden being the head man at Ntre Ame a domer wet-dream?

I don't think he's going to leave a cushy booth-job to take on a complete rebuilding job that will be what Cleveland is after Mangini gets the axe.

Normally, I'd agree. There are other factors to consider though.

  • He's from Ohio, and grew up a Browns fan
  • He seems like a lunatic

I'm too depressed to even talk about this game or the organization. I'm not sure that Holmgren is the answer because he Mangini who kept our OC (whoever that may be). I mean Joe Thomas did not even perform that well yesterday but at least he wasn't as bad as St. Clair. Which brings up the question of where the hell is Pashos:huh: Even Mack had a penalty.

I just don't understand why we are throwing the ball 30 yards downfield on third and three or four. Oh, now I remember that Mangini is still our HC and his buddy is still our OC. I would submit that even Tony Grossi:) could do a better job.

Bring back Carthon...not nearly enough fullback sweeps on 3rd and 12 for my liking :wink2:
