Very interesting article on the development of the Volt. GM recently announced it will be in showrooms by the end of 2010. What do you think of it?

Here are the problems:

1. If GM say it will be out in 2010; it probably won't be out until 2015 and it still will have a lot of technical problems.

2. The people that can afford to buy one can afford to pay $10 a gallon for gas. The people that can't afford the gas can't afford to buy a new car either. So who will buy one?

If gas prices keep going up, this may be the car of the future:

I think it is very likely that the plugin hydrids and even electric cars are the future of automobiles. Is Chevy Volt going to be the one model that comes out of the gate and sets the standard? They certainly have a great shot. If they can keep the price around $20,000 and still offer good quality, I would strongly consider buying one the next time I was in the market.

I'd like to see what Honda is going to do in that market in the long run. And I also wonder how a shift in the market towards hybrids and electrics would affect the local economy. If Honda could do well in that market, that could be very beneficial for central Ohio (assuming that many of the vehicles are produced up in Marysville).

Well considering that Saturn already made an electric car that GM took off the market, they shouldn't have a lot of trouble getting this out by 2010. It's just a shame it took gas prices rising to astronomical costs for companies to consider mass producing vehicles that ran off of something other than gasoline.

As I've said before, the only time this country learns is when it hurts.

I think it IS the future of automobiles to have electric drive power trains.

I also believe this rendition very likely could herald GM in Bankruptcy - especially as it is offered at $45,000 +

So, I cannot choose either option in the poll - lacking, as it does, the obligatory -

"All of Above"

AND

"None of The Above"

options.

Good point, as an electic vehicle may be the future of automobiles but that's not saying that this car won't send GM down the toilet and another manufacturer will pick up the pieces and make something worth owning that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.

All I know is the fucking thing better have a flux capacitor.
