CFP Title Game, Alabama vs tOSU, Jan 11, 8:15 ET on ESPN, Miami

I wouldn't compare last night to that Rose Bowl. The Bucks crushed UCLA earlier that season. That loss was unimaginable.

Alabama was unbeaten and favored by more than a TD. Our defense was undermanned and the coaches had no answers.

And the damned thing about Vermeil is that he coached my hometown's team to their only Super Bowl win, which is still one more than Lost Angles has.

Whatever happened to @Gcashwell? He was the quality Bama poster who showed up in the lead up to the 2015 Sugar Bowl and has popped in from time to time since. I don't think we saw him once since this game was set. These guys are the kind of fans from other schools that are really an asset to the board ( plus it's entertaining when @Nutriaitch @BigWoof31 and @Gatorubet start smack talking about their teams on a Buckeye board 8D ) I hope @Jim Hunter sticks around. It's great to have quality conversation with fans of other teams!

Thanks for the shoutout. Truthfully, I forgot about this place for a while. I’ll have comments on the game in a couple of days.

Unlike a certain jackass with a made up name, Saban has a healthy level of respect for Ohio State and it's clear his team respected Ohio State.
A lot of criticism has correctly been leveled on the pass coverage, but they absolutely made Najee earn it, and they got to him early and often near the LOS. He's just a monster with tremendous patience, strength and creativity to pick up non-existent yardage.

There were some absolutely incredible hits in that first half, many of which earned 3rd down stops. They just couldn't quite slow them down for 4 downs, and eventually they ran away with it.

Out schemed badly, but they played hard to the end.

The secondary and defensive line depth were tested against the most efficient offense in the country, with predictable results (if we weren't a bunch of homers).

Little pressure on Mac Jones as they could double Garrett with Togiai at home. Toss in having to go 4-4-3 and you get boat-raced.

Having Sermon may have kept their offense off the field a little longer, but they really didn't need much time to score.

I did not want to post last night. Too damned close to the wound. Too many times that we have spit the bit when it ccounted most, since 1969. Not a knock on the players, just a fact from following the team for this long. As an example, Woody's loss to a mediocre UCLA in the Rose Bowl was a soul-crusher.

Sure, we can always hope for better.

JF was damaged goods last night and hats off to him for playing the best that he could while injured. It brings to mind the story of William O. Douglas, unlamented late justice of SCOTUS, who fell from his horse while riding and broke many ribs. The pain was so bad that he begged his friend to shoot him then and there. Just an idea of the pain that JF must have been in last night.

Hope that Ryan looks long and hard at the staff and himself, though. Cannot afford to refuse to learn from this, like Don Brown did for several years.

Everyone, be well.
Jesus, I remember than well. Wendell Tyler I think was the UCLA RB that killed them? And to think OSU manhandled them earlier in the season.

I'm more saddened that this is a college student. "They was doing" :shake:

edit: the transcript is much worse than his actual answer. I heard him answer the question. He seemed fairly well-spoken with some colloquialisms thrown in. My comment above is overly harsh and unfair

Najee Harris was definitely getting hit. So many chances at the LOS. Werner- who I think had a damn good year- was just bouncing off him last night. Really bad game. LBs looked fatigued- either physically or emotionally after a great Clemson performance. Just not as sure tackling as I expected. Being on the field for long drives made it worse too.

But credit to Harris too. He got hit at the line so many times and it turned into 6 yards. Then that hit on his screen at the goalline? Geez. Got popped and still held onto the ball.

Those Bama players are un-worldly and yes they deserve all the hype for being a class above. Nice to see him give credit because the Bucks made him work for it but he got the better of them.

Yessir, 'twas the one and only Wendell Tyler, who ripped off a rather meaningless touchdown run after our final drive ended. Games for the NC aside, we had much more than our share of terrible disappointments and crazy, adverse finishes in that damned Rose Bowl. I'm looking at you, J.K. McKay!
