CFP Semifinal: Washington vs Alabama, Sat 12/31 @ 3p ET, ESPN

I think you're selling Saban a little short. Yeah he does generally "out-talent" most teams but the dude is still an excellent tactician. The title game last year is proof of that. Generally Saban gets beat when teams play completely out of their minds while Alabama plays exceptionally poorly. There aren't many games where Bama just straight up gets beaten or games where you wonder just how the hell Alabama lost.

I also think you're overselling Clemson. The Tigers may have the talent and gameplan, but last year showed they don't have the in-game coaching in my opinion. No way they should have lost that game.

I think what Tampa was saying is that in the beginning, Saban had a bare cupboard and won by brilliant gameplanning and player development. But now, not only does he still have those skills, you also have to add in the sheer, unbelievable amount of talent that he's accumulated.

Amazingly, Alabama now is miles ahead of where it was when Saban won his first title. The first few seasons under Saban, Alabama was still an excellent team, but their victories (e.g. over a McCoy-less Texas) were not quite as impressive as they are today.

Gotcha. Fair enough.

If anyone other than Saban was coaching Bama, I'd be just as nervous as you. Saban doesn't mess around in these kinds of games though. Only way I see Bammer losing is if they turn the ball over 5 times or something absurd like that or Joey Freshwater calls an unbelievably stupid game. Kiffin's playcalling can me VERY questionable but the dude generally knows what it takes to win. I'd be pretty shocked if Bama doesn't win by 3 TDs.

I'd take the +14. Washington will leave it all out on the field. Bama has to worry about draft stock and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them are thinking about osu and Clemson rematches. Petersen might be the best bowl game coaches active in cfb.

What I saw of Washington (admittedly only v Colorado) tells me that Bamer is going to go in deep and dry. They are going Sparty the pups. I don't see this as a close one at all.

Would be happy to be wrong here, but the Bama DLine is going to rag doll.

I mean I thought Sparty would put up a much better fight than they did against Bama since they beat a more talented team in Ohio State. Like I said before, the only team close to the talent level of Bama that Washington has faced is USC and the Trojans beat the Huskies pretty soundly at UW. Virtually the same USC that Bama butt blasted by 45. All signs point to Bama getting 21st century on that ass.

USC's defense manhandled UW in Seattle - under 300 yards and only 35% conversions on third down. I just don't see them faring any better vs Bama's D in Atlanta.

That said, I hope they surprise me.

Ronnie Harrison and Dallas Warmack were on Twitter complaining about traveling on Christmas and having to practice.

Derrick Henry (graduated) got on to Harrison, and Hamilton (injured) got on to Warmack, but it's not a good look.
