Game Thread CFP Playoff Cotton Bowl, tOSU vs Texas, Fri. Jan. 10th, 7:30 ET on ESPN

Trying to decide if I should crush bourbons for this game like I did the rose bowl or go in dry and focused.
I established a new routine for the playoffs. Same t shirt, same long sleeve Ohio State dry fit, same Ohio State hoodie (gray with red Ohio State outlined in white and a red Nike swoosh underneath). Woodford Reserve in a rocks glass with one huge cube of ice. Repeat the drink for the second half.

It's working so far.

Going with Woodford again as well. Signed 2014 Champs Bennett jersey. Sticking with what works. Cheers!

Ohio State vs. Texas Preview: Battle of Elite Defenses On Tap for Cotton Bowl With National Championship Game Spot On the Line

How It Plays Out

Line: Ohio State -6, O/U 53.5

Can it all be so easy? Ohio State has flatly rolled through the first two rounds of the CFP, even when no one expected the Buckeyes to against Oregon. Texas' roster is loaded with talent, particularly on the defensive side of the football, but the Longhorns have had clear flaws throughout the season and in the playoffs. Their secondary is elite, but no one has been able to slow Smith when he's properly schemed up.

Perhaps there are a few exploits for Texas in this game. While Ohio State's offensive line has undeniably risen to the occasion this postseason, it is still comprised of only two starters at their original positions with a few underclassmen working in. If Ewers comes out on fire, his offensive line is good enough in pass protection to give the Buckeyes secondary headaches.

Overall though, too much has been riding Ohio State's way to pick against the Buckeyes in this game. Each of Eleven Warriors' 14 staffers has the Scarlet and Gray advancing to a national title game against either Penn State or Notre Dame. Only one of those staffers – Andy Anders, the very writer of this preview – has OSU winning by only one score.

Notre Dame player calls out Buckeyes, saying Irish want to play Ohio State

The Ohio State football program got called out by name by Notre Dame's running back following the Irish's win over Penn State.

The Ohio State football team is taking on Texas in the Cotton Bowl on Friday night. The winner gets to play for a national championship. The winner will actually get to take on Notre Dame after the Fighting Irish took down Penn State in the Orange Bowl 27-24.

Notre Dame scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to win the game, making a game-winning field goal with under ten seconds left. They will now play for their first national championship since they got crushed by Alabama back in the 2012 season when Ohio State had a bowl ban.

Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame's starting running back had some words for the Ohio State Buckeyes following the victory. He called them out by name, saying that the Irish want to play Ohio State instead of Texas. Now, the Buckeyes have some extra motivation to win Friday night's game.

Notre Dame player calls out the Ohio State football team

Love wants to play the Buckeyes. Has he not seen what Ohio State has done in the last couple of weeks? The Buckeyes have absolutely slaughtered Tennessee and Oregon. Neither of those games was close, and the Buckeyes look like the best team in college football.

It's not usually a good thing to give the best team in college football some extra motivation. Love actually better hope that Texas wins this game. If the Buckeyes win the game, the Irish would be in big trouble. Notre Dame's offense isn't explosive enough to keep up.

In order for this to matter, the Buckeyes have to beat the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl. They have to stay singularly focused on what's in front of them. After they win this game, then they can focus on how stupid of a comment Love made.

Notre Dame Running Back Jeremiyah Love Wants to Face Ohio State in the Championship: “We Lost to Them Last Year in a Game We Should Have Won”

Jeremiyah Love has revenge on his mind.

Following Notre Dame's Orange Bowl win over Penn State, the Irish running back said he wants Ohio State to beat Texas in the Cotton Bowl so he and his teammates can avenge their home loss to the Buckeyes last season.

"We want to play Ohio State. We lost to them last year in a game we should have won," Love told Andy Staples of On3. "I feel like Ohio State is better than Texas. I want to play the best and win."

Notre Dame football's Jeremiyah Love calls out Ohio State after thrilling victory over Penn State

After the Notre Dame football team beat Penn State, star Jeremiyah Love calls out Ohio State.

“We want to play Ohio State,” Love said on Thursday during his post-game press conference. “We lost to them last year in a game we should have won…I want to play them again,” Love said. “They were a great team.”

“I want to play the best team,” Love continued. “I feel like Ohio State is better than Texas, I want to play the best and win.”
