CFP Game BMW Thread: #9 Tennessee at #8 tOSU

Hahah I’m kind of thinking the same…

Will still suck if we lose but there’s certain things you should accept about this years team.

1. We will start the game by giving up a few first downs and maybe even a touchdown.

2. We will have at a minimum 2-3 plays where we have them dead but they’ll somehow either get back to the LOS or more.

3. We will start our first offensive series with a throw to the flat.

4. IGB will get a 15 yard penalty in the middle of celebrating an incomplete pass.

5. We will be slow as fuck on offense (snapping with under 10 seconds on the play clock).

6. JJ Smith won’t touch the ball until the 2nd quarter.

7. We won’t run Will Howard even though we will mention he’s a weapon running the ball.

8. We have good odds of having a terrible turnover.

9. Will Howard will have 2-3 head scratchers

10. We will run a kick out we shouldn’t and get stopped at the 15.

11. We will let a punt bounce 15+ yards when it isn’t necessary.

12. We will hit a tough field goal (45 yards) but miss an easy one

I’m probably missing a ton of fun things like that
Think you nailed it. All that and it’ll still likely be a close game.

A team with a ton of talent but the play calling and QB play removes that advantage. Just like last year.
Only now the Buckeyes get a 2nd chance. We'll see.
Yeah it’ll really boil down to 2 things.

OSU play calling and Will Howard’s play.

I do not think this offense can play this efficient slow style we played with to begin the season. We don’t have the OL to not screw something up on a 10+ play drive. If we aren’t going to be aggressive down the field to eat up yards then I don’t think we can consistently drive the field and grind out yards.

JJ Smith needs 150+ yards in every game from now on if we are going to win this thing. He’s got to be targeted seriously 3-4 times per quarter. We can’t go 2+ quarters without any targets at all that’s for sure.

Agreed. Is the game plan helping our depleted OL or is it designed to display how tough we are ....
To me, help chip with TEs and RBs to help on protection. You only need 3-4 guys running routes with the WRs we have and they should consist of Smith, Egbuka, Tate, and Innis. We don't have a capable TE in the passing game for the most part, so utilize them blocking. Hell, our last Natty title was that exact formula.

Oh, without a doubt the gameplan was ridiculous. But I'm pretty sure Howard isn't responsible for creating that. They have to come up with ssomething that accounts for the O line issues. I have no clue what that is, but I'm not getting paid millions of dollars to figure it our either.

Absolutely agree you brother. But the OL problems didn't happen during the game. We rolled into that game down two OL stars and still decided to play Man-Ball.

I'll be shocked if you don't hit all 12 in a parlay.

I’ll go ahead and repeat my sentiment after last week’s shit show.
I have no faith nor trust that Day will lead, mentor, challenge, et cetera to a winning result in games of significance.
I will watch and root for the Buckeyes, but any positive expectations do not exist.

To clarify for @Thump : I’m open to feeling differently. Outcomes just need to open the door for that to occur. I’ll never denigrate or post negatively about Ryan as a person. Professionally, it’s obvious he knows how to get and keep very good players at tOSU. It’s the deployment, scheme, and outcomes (when it really matters) that leave a LOT to be desired.
Moreover, I’m of an older guard that is NOT NC or bust, and hold The Game as the ultimate each season. That’s my cross to bear and don’t expect others to agree or be aligned with. I’ll deal with it myself.
