CBF40's look at '12 recruiting (BP's prediction thread)

Whatever pal. I'm sure Fickell will be just as classless as I am when he talks to Schutt in a week or 2.

There is never a bad time to do or say the right thing.

I would be disappointed if Fick and the coaches aren't evaluating who may be in play, but I'd be three times more disappointed if I read an interview with him discussing blood being in the water. We all know that there will be fallout from this... But by the same token, we also don't go around talking about how wet water is either.

Remember, you are by way of this site, representing our university, assuming that you are or were a student. Represent it well in your words and actions... Especially in the recruiting forums.

That is all I have to say about this.

Some people are taking message boards a little too seriously and no this isn't a site that represents Ohio State university. I'm not a representative of Ohio State here and neither are you.

It's a site to find out what is going on and express thoughts on the situation.

OMG Ohio State fans want to recruit Schutt and take advantage of what's going on. The horror.

A little class is all I'm suggesting (and perspective). If this site is "gonna hate" on ESPN for doing the exact same thing people on this site are doing...well that's beyond lame. Meanwhile, hoping to come out looking better in terms of tattoos and JT because of this is pathetic (I'm not saying you are doing this, but that's been the other "angle" on here that's pretty sad.)

Because it gives some people a lil perspective that JT wasn't the devil? How is that pathetic?

Not really sure what you are arguing but it seems like there are some ridiculous leaps being made.

Hyperbole much? No one ever thought JT was the devil, they just thought he lied in order to win. I'm not arguing anything other than not to level ESPN for doing what you are doing and meanwhile, not to USE this garbage as a reason to make one feel better about our transgressions. 'Nuff said.

If that were true, the note below that starts with 'Out of respect...' wouldn't be there.

While this is largely an anonymous forum, it is held to significantly higher standards than other similar forums. I invite you to visit them if this is your attitude here.

I'd be highly disappointed if any Ohio State coach were to use the Sandusky situation as the basis for contacting Penn State recruits. And honestly, I expect none of them will do so.

Yes, that 'as the basis for contact...' was omitted from my original post. Thank you, I agree.

Someone give me a reason why they wouldn't contact or recruit Schutt?

Forget the Penn State crap, this has nothing to do with the victims, Joe Pa, Sandusky, and all the other bull.

This was our #1 DT target and he is most likely going to be a free agent again so someone please give me 1 reason for the coaches to not continue recruiting him?

Some of you really need to quit being so sensitive and realize this is a business. Nobody felt bad for us when we were on our ass, they took advantage of it fully. Stealing recruits from Penn State isn't a show of disrespect to anything that went on there, it's business.

I would love to hear 1 good reason as to why going after Schutt shows a lack of class. Please. We are going after Pittman as hard as possible and Dantonio is Fickell's good friend, it's business.

You have a top-rated DT who is committed to a school that is currently under a lot of turmoil due to heinous accusations against a former coach. Therefore, the kid will undoubtedly rethink his committment to said school. I fail to see how any discussion about our staff keeping in contact with him has any relation whatsoever with what happened at said school.

To reiterate: renewing contact with a young man solely because of the current Sandusky mess would be improper. Continuing contact that we've maintained all along would not be.

Exactly. People need to quit going in-depth with this and thinking contacting Schutt disrespects the victims or whatever crazy leaps they are getting at.

You find out a recruit you wanted bad is open, you go after him, plain and simple. Every other school sure as hell will.

Couldn't agree more.

Been a long time since I've compiled a wish list, but for the remaining five/six, I'd like to see:

1). Jordan Diamond (dire need for OTs, no explanations needed)
2). Stefon Diggs (need a dynamic player to complement Braxton on offense)
3). Noah Spence (need for a passrusher)
4). Se'Von Pittman (message to the B10 that Ohio State is still Ohio State)
5). Jamal Marcus (need a physical and instinctive LBer)
6). Joel Caleb (keep the VA pipeline going and look to add a big safety here)

I think you get five if you count the two medical hardships and six or more if you count players with legal issues/ transfer issues. If there's more than six, then I'd like to see:

7). AJ Leggett
8). Cyrus Jones
9). Kyle Dodson

Lastly, I think this class should be about getting the best players available rather than filling in specific needs, outside of OT. With the way that Urban recruits, you are effectively shrinking the maturation timetables of players. Outside of QB or the maybe the trench players, I don't think you'll see the coaching staff lean on more experienced players.

Honestly, dream lists are a bit tough to differentiate from realistic ones at this point, but if we end up with 9 schollies to give, I would WANT (in order from most confidence to least):

1. OT Kyle Dodson (really think he flips, big position of need)
2. RB Brionte Dunn (think he sticks with UFM pressing)
3. DE Noah Spence (we lock it up with a visit and a HUGE get to put him across from Washington)
4. DE Sevon Pittman (matter of time before he flips, another huge get instate)
5. OT Kyle Diamond (a little bit raw but I think he can be a great RT for us with Dodson at LT. We have serious momentum here
6. DT Tommy Schutt (with the scandal, he is looking to bolt and OSU had a great shot initially. One for the good guys)
7. ATH Joel Caleb (tremendous player with great versatility, and I think we are the silent leader)
8. LB Ifeadi Odenigbo (I don't think we land him but he is on my wish list...tremendous talent. However, I am high on LB Jamal Marcus and I would think we have a better shot of landing him here at 7))
9. ATH Cyrus Jones (easily at the top of my wish list, question is if we can overcome an intially huge Bama lead)
10 WR Davonte Neal (I've always been incredibly high on Neal and he can play ball. Visit from Drayton and schedule a visit, and I think we have a great shot at an elite WR. Put him at 10 but I think he is a real wildcard)

Ok and then my wish list for 9 based on talent, not positions of need:
1. ATH Cyrus Jones
2. DE Noah Spence
3. ATH Stefon Diggs
4. DE Darius Hamilton
5. QB Jameis Winston
6. OT Kyle Dodson
7. DT Tommy Schutt
8. RB Brionte Dunn
9. LB Ifeadi Odenigbo

Edit: Forgot Diamond
