CBF40'S Look at '09 recruiting

so you think we get boyd and brown. any particular reason, especially with brown?

He is coming back to OSU on his own dime this weekend...you don't take an unofficial after already taking an official unless you are serious about that school...

He's also going to Georgia again, if I'm not mistaken. Obviously the interest is real, but I wouldn't pencil him in just yet. Still has 3 officials to make as well.

Too bad about Adams. I'd hate to see him toil in mediocrity for 4 years, but the kid is a homebody. Not to mention the girlfriend factor...

There are few names, but it looks like there will be some interest in the 09 class picking up in the next couple weeks, with the all-star games...

I agree with Wade's list but I still think there are good percentages on Hosley/Edwards, Adams, and Sims...

I believe that the staff has really shown that they want another DB in this class, and I think if Hosley doesn't come thru we see a late offer to Edwards...Either way I see us adding one of them...

The Adams recruitment is going to be interesting...I still believe we are neck and neck with ASU...I think the g/f thing is holding the situation up...

As for Sims if he doesn't get the basketball offers he will be playing football here I believe...

I am happiest with the Boyd situation as I have thought all along we needed to add a Qb in this class...now it looks like we are going to add a big time QB to the class...

Still really hope we hold onto Justin Greene as well and I don't have worries there, just anytime a kid is taking more visits, it is not quite a done deal...

what a truly great class it is tho...

As bogus as individual recruiting ratings can be, team ratings can be bogus squared. However, per Scout we have the #1 class right now. More so, we lead #2 Texas by 964 "points". 964 is greater than the gap between Texas and #12 South Carolina.

Thanks, 40! Haven't commented, as of yet on 45's insight, although much appreciated, because wishful thinking has compelled me to believe exactly what you have brought forth regarding Adams, Sims and now Hosely. I still believe(praying) Adams will be a part of this class, because of his Dad. And yes, you were right all along about bringing in a QB, and man, doesn't it seem that Boyd is the perfect choice.
My ONLY concern is Hall. I've read and re-read his thread, and everything else I can find. My gut feeling is just not as comfortable with this as you and 45, probably because of what happened last year year with Cordale. He's still my number1 most important, critical get...if all else fails.

I say Boyd, Hall, and Adams round this amazing class out. I want like nothing else to add Brown, as I feel he could be a contributor immediately here but I just feel he stays south somewhere. Just a feeling that I hope I'm wrong about. Hosley not having a written offer makes me wonder but I still think there is a strong chance he ends up in this class.

I can't recall a year where at this point in the process we were seriously in the hunt for four of Scout's top 20 uncommitted players - and we already have their number one ranked class. Land just two of those and this class replaces 2002 as the gold standard.

I don't think it can be understated, what a good recruiter JT has become. It seems like his classes just keep getting better and better. I didn't think we could ever top last years class, but look out...

I really think JT has an anti-Chuck Weiss mojo working for him. Take Florida for example...we've gotten several guys from down their in recent years, but missed on a lot too...the guys we missed on, were just as important as the guys we landed b/c JT has had an opportunity to meet coaches, parents, and players. Dislike or like Ohio State, but meet JT and there really isn't anything negative to take away. His reputation has spread across the country, and you see it when top flight players from Florida, Utah, California, etc. list Ohio State in their top 5 as a sophmore.

He's an uplifting but humble guy, and a parents dream. It is truly remarkable the classes he has put together.

I grew up in Ohio, and love Ohio....but think about what Jt has accomplished. He is getting the best players from all over the country to dedicate 4 years of their lives to Columbus, Ohio. Guys with offers from Miami, USC, UF, etc. He's also pulling massive amounts of talent from Pennsylvania with a rich tradition of history at PSU.

Again, an amazing feat. I don't always agree with his approach on the field, but the guy can flat out recruit. Special time indeed to be a tOSU fan.

There has been one HUUGGEEE factor in our recruiting classes both last year and this year.....MICHAEL BREWSTER! We owe this guy a lot. If Tajh ends up here....which I am hoping he will, he would be yet another blue-chip recruit that this guy would have helped us land.
