Cornerback Travis Howard was disappointed that he wasn?t among the seven Buckeyes invited to the NFL combine, so he wanted to dazzle yesterday. He was only partly satisfied: He said he ran a 4.5 in the 40 after consistently running 4.4 in his training.
?I guess it was a little shocker for me, but it?s still a good time for my size,? said Howard, who is just over 6 feet and weighs 199 pounds.

CB prospect Howard says Bills interested
Posted by Chris Brown on March 12, 2013

Appearing on Sirius XM NFL Radio on the Ross Tucker show this morning, Ohio State CB Travis Howard said the Bills are one of the NFL clubs that has expressed the most interest.

Howard, who is seen as a day three draft prospect, said the Bills were at his pro day last week and have been showing him some of the most frequent attention among NFL clubs. A big corner (6?0″ 198) Howard ran a reported 4.5 40-time at the pro day, which he was not happy with claiming he had run in the 4.4s during his training sessions.

Howard did finish his college career on a good note with four of his eight career interceptions coming in his senior season. That led the Big Ten. He also earned 1st Team Big Ten honors in media voting for his 2012 season.

I don't fully know the cornerback prospects coming out, but I always thought Howard could make a solid boundary corner in the NFL due to his size and speed combination. An intriguing prospect, but I'm probably wearing my Buckeye-filtered glasses.

I see him purely as a backup, getting drafted in the 5th round or later. Hes a nice player in the nfl, but that's about it. May even be on the practice squad. At least he'll make a roster though

i would be floored if he was drafted in the 5th round...i think he may go undrafted...but this is a weak draft so he could actually go higher then expected if drafted...either way good luck to Travis and I hope he ends up on a team in the NFL

Ten combine snubs who could fit with Patriots
04/02/2013

Cornerback Travis Howard: The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Ohio State defensive back played in 43 games with the Buckeyes and started 23 times, including all 12 games as a senior. He flashed very good ball skills over the course of his career at Ohio State, finishing with eight picks (including four as a senior). Like Williams getting a reference from Saban, if Howard received a thumbs-up from Belichick?s pal Urban Meyer, it could be enough to put him over the top in the eyes of the Patriots.

The New England Patriots announced that they have re-signed DT Andre Neblett to the 53-man roster, placed LB
Jerod Mayo on injured reserve and signed CB Travis Howard to the practice squad.

Howard, 23, was originally signed by the Houston Texans as a rookie free agent out of Ohio State on May 10, 2013. The 6-foot-1, 197-pounder, was released by Houston on Aug. 27, 2013. He started every game as a junior and senior at Ohio State and totaled 81 tackles, six interceptions and 11 passes defensed during that time.
