CB Shaun Wade (1st Team All American, Los Angeles Chargers)

I’m not a huge fan of the negativity Shaun has received since the loss to Bama or throughout the year.

it’s annoying.

1. We know his highest upside and value is at slot corner

2. He came back to develop his skills as an outside corner

3. Covid fucked the year/season

He wasn’t great this year....they had him play soft a lot. I get it. Cut the kid some slack.....it wasn’t all on him.

Fans=fanatics.
And the fact that he came back, we all assumed that he'd step in where Okudah left and be a shutdown CB. He came back and regardless of the abnormal season, NFL scouts aren't going to cut him slack, and tbh, he looked like one of our worst DBs all year. Jahan Dotson, Ty Fryfople and Devante Smith all made a lot of money off of the piss poor coverage that Shaun displayed all year. And the fact that our best option for him in coverage was to keep him in a soft cushion, should be alarming for all OSU fans. He should go pro as his skills would be wasted with another year in college. As we'd expect him to cover outside when his real talent is on the inside. We appreciate everything he has done in scarlet and gray, but he deserves a pay day after coming back when he didn't have to.

I saw a way too early mock draft this week that had the Browns taking Wade and Togiai in the 3rd. I would be thrilled if the Browns could pull that off.

If Tommy Togiai is a 3rd rd pick, I’ll fall out of my chair in laughter.

Hoping he comes back and anchors next year defense, but he’d be a steal in second rd he’s that disruptive. Buckeyes 2020 defensive MVP, IMO.

I’m leery of parents that might appear to be overly involved in their sons’ athletic careers, but I was fine with everything that Randy Wade did this past year. In my mind I did compare him to Vern Mangold, and never once thought of Mr. Ball, or somebody like Sean Henderson (remember Seantrel), until I read Randy’s own tweet above.

No worries, Randy, you were just being vocal toward getting what virtually all of us wanted, a Buckeye football season in 2020.

FIGHTING THROUGH PAIN? I think it's fair to say that Shaun Wade's return to Ohio State did not go the way anybody had hoped.

Wade came back to prove he could play corner and to bolster his draft stock, and by the end of the season, he had done literally the opposite – nobody on the planet believes he can play corner, and his draft stock is now shakier than it's ever been.

It was a rough season, but it turns out, we may not have known the whole story.

This would make some sense as to how he could go from looking like one of the best and most versatile defensive backs in the country to looking like a guy who's never even attempted to cover a wide receiver in his life.

He should've sat out then because the season of tape does him no favors. Most football players play pretty beat up so I dont understand the need to post that.

Randy seems a little over protective to me. Has gotten into it a few times on twitter with those critical of Shaun.

“For me personally, a lot of people don’t know but I had a lot of things going on during the time, so I was going through a lot of things with my body and just with personal things at home,” Wade said. “So it just showed me how to grow up and put those things to the side. Which, at first, I’m not gonna lie, it took time to do. But toward the end of the season, I was getting better just putting them things to the side and just focusing on this team and focusing on football.”

“I wanted to stay on the sideline and remember how the national championship felt,” Wade said. “It’s just a good memory to have, so I can tell my kids in the future, how that felt losing the national championship. But at the end of the day, I’m proud of the team, proud that we made it and we did get to our goal, we just didn’t accomplish it.”

“It’s not an excuse for anything, at the end of the day I still gotta play. A lot of NFL players, they play through injuries, they just get the shots and go through it,” Wade said. “So at the end of the day, you just gotta play through it. There’s nothing you can’t do about it but just play. And I’m just happy that I played through it.”

“I know what I can play. I know what happened this year. And that’s just their opinion,” Wade said. “I know I can play corner, I know I can play nickel, I know I can play safety. I know I can play all positions in the back end. So that’s just a plus on my side. But at the end of the day, it’s their opinion, and I know what I can play. And the people that are professionals know what I can play.”

“Coach Coombs is a great coach, man. You gotta understand this is his first year being a D-coordinator,” Wade said. “And look where he got us. So you can’t complain about that. Look where he got us. He got us to the national championship, being a D-coordinator and coaching the DBs. So he’s a great guy, great coach and he understands football and knows what he’s talking about. Whatever the outside world say is what they say. They’re going to speak their mind and just make noise and that’s just how it is. But Coach Coombs is a great guy and a great coach.”

Just sayin': You look up "class act" in the dictionary and I wouldn't be surprised if you see Shaun Wade's picture.
