Scott transfers to Ole Miss

Former Seabreeze standout James Scott may officially be on Ohio State football roster, but his high school coach said Scott started school in Oxford, Miss., on Monday.
Seabreeze football coach Marc Beach and Scott's little brother, Jonathan Scott, confirmed Tuesday that the former All-State defensive back has transferred to Mississippi.
"He is at Ole Miss. He started school (Monday). I haven't talked to him," said Beach. "I don't know what the delay was. I got a call from Ohio State that he was going to transfer, so he transferred to Ole Miss."
A month ago Ohio State officials said the 5-foot-10, 170-pound sophomore was in Columbus, Ohio, but not one of the 105 players in preseason camp with the Buckeyes.
At the time, Scott was expected to earn his way back into camp and be with the team before the season-opener, but Scott's relationship with the Buckeyes apparently went downhill.
"Sometime last week he decided to transfer," said Jonathan Scott, a Division I recruit himself for the Sandcrabs. "I'm not sure he's going there to play right away. He just wanted to go there."

Cornerback James Scott, who recently transferred from Ohio State to Ole Miss, watched practice on Thursday but did not participate.
Scott, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound cornerback from Daytona Beach, Fla., will have to sit out this season per NCAA transfer rules. He'll have three years of eligibility remaining.
Scott was one of the top cornerback recruits in the country out of high school, but played sparingly for the Buckeyes during his freshman season.
Ohio State transfer James Scott was taking a physical Tuesday. He is expected to join the Rebels some time this week. Scott will not be eligible to play until next season. He'll have three years of eligibility remaining. ..
Nutt dismisses 2 players at Mississippi
Associated Press - February 25, 2009
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi coach Houston Nutt has dismissed Justin Sanders and James Scott from the football team for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Sanders, a defensive tackle from New Market, Ala., did not play in his two seasons with the Rebels.
Scott, a transfer from Ohio State last September, never played either after sitting out last season because of NCAA rules. The Daytona Beach, Fla., player appeared in nine games for the Buckeyes in 2007, recording six tackles.
