CB Dominic Clarke (transfer to Illinois State)

#7 played a good game last night.

I wholeheartedly disagree. IMHO, #7 played poorly. The last Abbredaris touchdown in the fourth quarter was based off of #7 not taking his boundary assignment in the cover 3. He instead played the flat although the inside nickel backer (tyler moeller) had that assignment. He also showed poor fundamentals on basic routes and failed to recognize the run on a few occasions. Here's to hoping Travis can bounce back and have stellar DB play for next game. However, I also wish Clarke would get more PT, but I will trust the coaches and the fact that Howard could have had an off game. I still believe in #7 and think he can positively impact games. Let's just hope he continues to work on his weaknesses (and I'm sure he is his own harshest critic).

IMHO, Dominic Clarke has shown the ability to recognize the run and make plays in cover 2 and cover 3 looks. I do realize I have not seen what goes on during practice, but given Clarke's play on the field I think he is one of our best 11.

Don't want to really comment on Clarke specifically but if he should go...Howard and Roby have the corner spots next year, with Bryant at Star. Plus Grant will fill in nice at the backup spot. Not an ideal situation, but far from doomsday. It also might explain the explosion in offers to corners recently.

Disappointed in Clarke

Cornerback Dominic Clarke pleaded not guilty yesterday in Franklin County Municipal Court after being charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, speeding and running a stop sign. Asked about Clarke, Meyer said doesn?t know the whole story yet.

?What we?ll never do is say we?re going to make an example out of a kid,? Meyer said. ?However, he broke a team rule. I?m still getting information.

?I don?t really know him. I think I?ve met him one time. (I?m) very, very disappointed because some things (regarding expected behavior) were covered in the team meeting. It?ll be dealt with very swiftly and sternly at the appropriate time.?

Clarke paid a fine after being charged with disorderly conduct for an October incident in which he shot a BB gun off a campus restaurant overhang.
