CB Devon Torrence (official thread)

Wadc....thats a good question, but I feel the staff has made it intentions known if you know what I mean. :wink2:

I'm sure you're right about that, but I just don't understand what stops them from handing out an offer to Torrence or Martin as well. I have to assume that they have extended a verbal offer to Devon...

what I don't understand is how come we have offers out to guys like Oglesby and Barksdale but not Torrence...

I was wondering this too probably just has to do with being an OOS recruit. The only offers have gone to Oglesby, Blankenship, O'Dowd?, Barkesdale, Allen, and Johnson and all are OOS. Perhaps they are just extending written offers out to players they think will be hard to get and feel it necessary to extend an early offer to be a major player. Torrence is a high profile player but they probably know they can wait untill junior day to offer.

Yeah but I agree with Wadc why take the chance?

I totally agree why chance on in state guys and just get the offers out there to guys like Torrence. I can see why we would wait on Martin because of what bn44280 said with not wanting to scare any away.

I don't know why they are waiting on Torrence, but on Martin, I am assuming his lack of an offer has something to do with the fact we are chasing some defensive ends in this class and don't want to scare anyone away. Just my opinion.
and the whole what consitutes and offer scenario, what is an offer is different for different kids it seems. some kids take "id love for you to play for us" as an offer others wait for written.

I go with the staff when it comes to offering these kids

look at the college all american teams 1, 2 and 3rd and h.m. ,. ohio state offered more than high of them and some were not 5 or 4 star players back then

I think those canton south top players only got h. m. regional if any. If I am wrong someone please link what they got. thxs

I just watched his videos again, and yes, I think the offensive side of the ball is where he would be most valuable. I want him in the backfield. The good thing is, he loves us so much that he probably wouldn't mind a RS year to seperate himself from the other backs in years. He has got to have at least 4.3 speed, he looks scary fast and can stop on a dime to cut back the other way. He already works out with Reynolds, so the drills should come as second nature to him once he steps on campus. At 6'0" 200, he definitely has perfect size at RB as well. Geez, I cannot help but smile as I think of the ability he bring to the table. He will be a top 3 player in Ohio and 5* recruit next year.

His videos for runningback are impressive, but when you look at his season stats, there is something left to be desired.

I just don't think he's the type of guy for an every down back type of thing.

I could easily see him at wide receiver, which is actually where I think he'll be best. That or cornerback, but being a wide receiver gives him an opportunity to be more explosive.

i'd like to see him used like derrick williams and justin king were for penn state...(i'd say ginn but i don't think he has been properly used yet) but on quick pitches and stuff like that...also i really like him at CB from everything that i have seen it would be great to have a CB with that kind of speed and his hips to stay with a receiver...it all depends on what the team needs though
