Devon says he has offers from the entire Big 10 except tOSU. He is being recruited as an athlete by most.
That should change after he gets his test results...
still kind off weird that every bigten school has offered except us, (regardless of his test scores)
even if we are far and away his favorite, thats gotta get under his skin just a tad.
I mean all bigten schools are relatively good academically, this can't be easy to explain to a recruit that we need to wait for his scores, while NW has offered, and scUM, and PSU..which are all very strong academically..and out of state which generally makes acceptance even tougher.
I see it as more of an incentive thing...its a physical goal that he can see himself working to achieve...he will know that once he gets his grades up he will get that offer...as opposed to jsut giving it to him they are mkaing him work for it and i really like what JT is doingOSUBucks22 said:Staff has not been a stranger with Devon... An athlete with potential to not only star on the gridiron but on the diamond as well, DEVON TORRENCE is an all-around talent. Checking in at 6’1” and 190 pounds—with blazing 4.39 speed—Torrence played tailback, receiver, corner and safety at <st1 ="">lace><st1:placename>South</st1:placename><st1:placetype>High School</st1:placetype></st1> in <st1 =""><st1:city>Canton</st1:city>, <st1:state>Ohio</st1:state></st1><o =""></o>
<o =""></o>
Torrence is receiving heavy interest from programs including <st1 =""><st1:city>Penn State</st1:city>, <st1:state>Ohio</st1:state></st1> State, <st1:state><st1 ="">Minnesota</st1></st1:state>, <st1:state><st1 ="">Illinois</st1></st1:state>, <st1:state><st1 ="">West Virginia</st1></st1:state> and <st1 =""><st1:placename>Arizona</st1:placename><st1:placetype> State.</st1:placetype></st1><o =""></o><o =""></o>
Described by his high school coach Elmer Schuetz as having “soft hands but will whack ‘ya,” Torrence is only expected to continue improving. He is young and will graduate at only 17. <o =""></o>

The wild-card, though, is his ability on the baseball field. Torrence hit over .600 as a sophomore and has the speed to “make balls in the gap look like routine” outs, according to his coaches. He would like to play both baseball and football in college, but there is still the prospect that he will go pro in baseball right after high school. Keystone Recruiting is keeping a close eye on Torrence, who now names <st1 =""><st1:placename>Penn</st1:placename><st1:placetype>State</st1:placetype></st1> as his favorite after previously giving <st1 =""><st1:placename>Ohio</st1:placename><st1:placetype> State</st1:placetype></st1> the early lead.<o =""></o>
Look for a grade-contingent offer coming within the next couple of weeks...
