Ohio State football CB Devin Sanchez issues firm message ahead of 2026 season that’ll have Buckeye Nation excited

Ohio State will need Devin Sanchez to step up in a big way in 2026. It sounds like the Texas product plans to do just than, and then some.

Devin Sanchez sounds like he’s ready to be THE guy in Ohio State’s secondary

Several Ohio State football players were at the Memorial Tournament on Wednesday and sophomore Devin Sanchez was amongst the group. The second-year cornerback is going to be relied on as a starter in Ohio State’s secondary, and potentially even their top cornerback.

“I feel great,” Sanchez stated. “I feel like I can be one of the best corners in the nation. I’m gonna be one of the best corners in the nation. I feel like guys should really watch out for me because I’m not freshman Devin no more.”

I had him coming in and dominating but it took a minute to get it together. This is the year he puts it all on display imo.

Can we please get the refs to call PI against every player covering Smith like they do for Sanchez. JFC it’s such an insane double standard.

Does Sanchez have an issue he needs to work on? Yes.

Would he have anywhere near the same number of PIs if he were covering #4 and having the exact same contact with him? We all know the answer to that is no. Refs need to be more consistent with their calls. He's had some ticky tack calls go against him (and some that are legitimate).

My question is: did Iggy get better at not getting PI's last year or did the refs get used to him being physical and let more slide? Probably a little of both. In all honesty, some of Sanchez's issues might be due to going up against Smith in practice and being able to get away with more. When you go up against humans rather than an alien, those little grabs get called.
