CB Davison Igbinosun (Official Thread)

My personal favorite CB on the roster. Plays with the type of dog in him that I saw in Lattimore, hates for the WR to even get a yard
I love that play style as well, he will just need to be careful with flag-happy refs in terms of contact in coverage. I think he was mostly good with that last season, but the more aggressive, physical CBs can fall into that trap sometimes. But this was a massive portal pickup and having played the CB position, I really enjoy watching his play (hell, all of our CBs for that matter).

The other great corner for the Ohio State football team is ready to be known

After transferring to the Ohio State football program, Davison Igbinosun is ready to become a household name.

Everyone knows about how good the Ohio State football team's secondary is going to be this season. They got even better when Caleb Downs decided to transfer in from Alabama. Everyone around the country also already knows of one of the shutdown corners the Buckeyes have.

Denzel Burke became a household name in 2021 as a freshman when he became a guy that teams started throwing away from. He became a shutdown corner very early in his career. Burke got back to playing that well last season as a junior and should be even better as a senior.

The other outside corner for the Buckeyes is pretty good too and he's ready to become a household name too. Davison Igbinosun transferred into the Ohio State football program last season after being a Freshman All-American at Ole Miss and played well for the Buckeyes.

Igbinosun had 59 tackles and five pass breakups as a starter for the Buckeyes a year ago. He wasn't able to get any interceptions though, and that's something he's looking forward to this season. He wants to be as recognized nationally as Burke currently is.

Igbinosun was one of the stars of the Spring Game. It looks like he's spent the offseason really improving his technique. He should be ready to become a shutdown corner in a similar vein to Burke. I expect him to have a really solid junior year.

Something I wasn't happy about was his lack of hand usage in the clips from spring ball. He dialed that up to 10 against Iowa. He has been blessed with wingspan, I hope he continues to use it and impose himself physically on the perimeter.
I think coaches got on him(and for good reason) for being TOO aggressive in coverage. I loved how aggressive and physical he is, but there's a fine line between it being a strength or it becoming liability due to numerous flags and causing your team valuable field position. The great ones can find a balance, and learn techniques to keep the aggression under control
