CB Ashton Youboty (CB Coach Purdue)

For those of us who have travelled the world, images such as there are a very vivid reminder that there are many people in the world to whom a football game is not really much of a concern.

We are indeed very fortunate, as is Ashton, that he has been removed from one of the world's hell holes and been enabled to receive an education at one of the world's top universities. Like scarletandgray, I too have seen the poorest areas of Africa. Most of humanity live still without the basic necessities of life. Hundreds of children die every day because of malnutrition.

It is the light of knowledge that is lit at places like Ohio State that removes that darkness. Let's hope that Ashton can go back to his country and spread that light one day when his degree is earned and possible pro career is over.

Great story...AY is one of the bright spots of this team that has been overshadowed by the garbage. Nice find 86
I had History 152 with Ashton last year, and he's a nice guy. Very funny, but very eloquent, especially for a football player. He was always happy to read in our group reports and doing debates, he would always come up with good points. He was always late, though.

- Gears Up For US$5Million Deal

Reports reaching The Analyst Sports Desk say a Liberian star in American head football, Ashton Youboty is making headway in the American league and that he is expected to lead his team, Buckeyes of Ohio State, to victory on December 29, in San Antonio, Texas.

According to the Columbus Sports newspaper, Ashton Youboty has been a significant factor in most of his team's victory.

The paper quoted the player Youboty as saying that he wants to be a household name in the American football.

He has already been described by the man who he will cover in the grand final (Edward) as a "Great Kid" who has a long way to go.

The Liberian head football star; is the son of the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Monrovia Develop and Management Company, (MDMC) Mr. John Youboty.

The 20 years old Youboty, who started the season for Buckeyes as third corner but found himself in the starting lineup when his team Austin Fox suffered a broken arm.

Since than, Youboty has started seven of the last eight game of the club and has established himself as a fine cover corner and one of the team surest tacklers.

In recent time, the Liberian star has leaded the Buckeyes with three interceptions and seven passes defense. He is fifth on the team with 54 tackles, including three for a loss and one sack.

"He gets out there and gets picks and is all over people", Linebacker Hawk said. "I trust Ashton, I think he's a great player", Coach Jim Treasse was uncharacteristically effective in his praise.

"I love Ashton Youboty. You know how I feel about him", he said. Edwards' opinion aside, Youboty's reputation might be starting to grow.

On Saturday at Purdue, the Boilermakers drove 80 yards for the wining score in the final minutes.

Quarterback Kyle Orton completed all six of his passes on the drive, but not one thrown in Youboty's direction.

Neither he or nor Tressel would say whether Youboty will be matched on Edwards all day, shadowing the receiver whenever goes.

Even if that is not the case, Youboty is the lift corner in the base defense and the slot corner in the nickel package, which is where Edwards normally lines up in three-wide sets. And that's fine with him. He said he bears down during weeks in which he will face a standout receiver.

"I think I prepare even more ", Youboty said. " More Video time, more film room study. I wake up the same, but just more focused. I bring my "A" game, pretty match".

Meanwhile the father of the 20 years old star, John Youboty, who is currently in Monrovia, leave shortly for the United State of America to witness the showdown of his son in the final match on December 29.

The December 29, crucial final will set the pace for Ashton Youboty to signed a big deal with Buckeyes of Ohio State. The deal is put at US$ 5Million.

LOL- I am sure Geiger would be happy to hear about Youboty's upcoming $5 Mil deal with the Bucks.

This may be a Gamble type of situation. Youboty hasn't had near the hype that Gamble had, but here are the similarities:

- billed as a promising lock down corner, and came up with big plays in big games as a sophomore.
- Exposed at times, and even targeted in his junior year.
- NFL teams will draft high based on potential, and by staying another year, with a lot of key guys up front graduating, and one if not both safeties being gone as well, he runs the risk of getting burnt more regularly than he did before.
- Youboty leaving now, will benefit him just like it did Gamble. He won't be drafted as high as Gamble, but staying another year may prove to scouts that he's not worth a high draft pick, rather than disprove it.

I don't want him to leave, because I'm selfish, and I don't want Jenkins to be the only corner with significant PT next year. If he does leave, I won't be surprised, or even angry. The man has to do what he thinks is best for him. We still have a lot of young corners that will be ready to play next year, and who knows, maybe this Ted Ginn Jr. guy will finally get a shot to play corner. :wink2:

Youbouty still looks like a little kid out there. That's probably just because he seems skinny and has a Merton Hanks neck. IMO he needs another year to get physically ready to play in the NFL. I agree with Mili about the end of season.
If the defense isn't as good as a whole next season it seems like Youbouty could put up better stats if offenses try to pick on weaker aspects of the defense. If AY and DW come back I think the defense has the potential to still be very good. If Pitcock and Patterson come back the DL should be as good or better than this year. The LB's will drop off, but not by very much if Freeman, and D'Animal can get healthy. Hoobler, and Animal Jr can play. Kerr has another year as well. The offense should be better next year even though they lose Holmes, Mangold, and Sims.

Like Ive said for the past couple of weeks. Yobouty would be insane to go pro. Ive never seen a corner have a worst day than when we played Minnesota, he was burnt on almost every pass his way. And against Michigan he had his hands full with Avant, whenever he got beat he simply held him. He has great size for a corner and is great is supporting the run, but he has taken a step back this year. Doesnt he only have one interception all year?
