Iverson is the baby of the NBA, he yells at the refs worst than anyone in the league, but he still gets ridiculous calls. If the officials had half a brain, they could tell that he ignitiated contact, but they cant.

Lebron was letting Kyle Korver score on him. Thats ridiculous.

Cavaliers caught off guard by Sixers

Philadelphia's tempo too fast for Cavs, who fail to defend in defeat

By Terry Pluto

Beacon Journal sportswriter

<!-- begin body-content -->PHILADELPHIA - Mike Brown hates this type of game, and for good reason.
``It won't win in the playoffs, and it won't even get you to the playoffs,'' said the Cavaliers coach after his team lost 116-107 to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
The problem wasn't so much the verdict, as the tempo.
Philadelphia ran and shot and scored.
The Cavs ran and shot and lost.
Brown shook his head as he thought of the 76ers scoring 116 points, the highest game total allowed by the Cavs this season. And how they shot a stunning 53 percent, often on layups, dunks and open jumpers. And how the Cavs got behind early and stayed behind, never catching up.
``I hate this kind of basketball,'' he said. ``It's a playground game.''
What hurt the coach most was defense -- there was none.
And patience -- not much of that, either.
When you play the Sixers, you expect Allen Iverson to score -- which did, as in 29 points. But that's actually four below his average.
He was 10-of-24 shooting, decent but not spectacular.
But the Cavs couldn't stop Chris Webber (24 points, 14 rebounds) and Andre Iguoudala (25 points).
Or how about this?
Ex-Cavalier Kevin Ollie (eight points) outscored Sasha Pavlovic, Eric Snow and Damon Jones combined! Those three Cavalier guards were on the court for 92 rather invisible minutes, scoring seven points on 2-of-14 shooting.
``This game had absolutely nothing to do with our shooting,'' said Brown. ``This was about not being able to guard.''
The Cavs are 1-2 against the Sixers, a team with a modest 26-27 record. They struggle with teams that like to run. Rather than try to slow the tempo and work the ball inside, the Cavs run with them.
Usually, they lose, especially since Larry Hughes (finger surgery) went down 28 games into the season.
LeBron James (33 points, 13-of-24 shooting) can thrive in a fast tempo, but many of the other Cavs just seem left behind. Many NBA games come down to a test of wills -- which team dictates how the game will be played.
The Cavs weren't determined enough to slow the Sixers, who scored at least 28 points in every quarter.
Early in the game, center Zydrunas Ilgauskas (27 points) tried to keep things close. He had 22 points at the half, but scored only five points and took a mere three shots in 12 second-half minutes.
The Cavs seemed to forget he was on the court.
Philadelphia is a soft defensive team vulnerable to giving up points near the basket. Backup forwards Donyell Marshall (16 points) and Anderson Varejao (11 points) combined for 27 points and 11 rebounds. But the Cavs would start chasing the Sixers up and down the court and forget to pass the ball to their big men.
``They scored some easy buckets and got up big early,'' said James. ``We wasted a lot of energy trying to catch up.''
A year ago, the Cavs missed the playoffs by a game, as they were 12-19 after the All-Star break. They are now 1-1 this season after the break, and Brown knows a way to prevent another second-half collapse.
``We just need to defend a lot better than we did,'' he said.

I can't help but wonder if the Cavs just tend to have bad games against the Sixers or if the Sixers just have the Cavs number. They might just not match up well with Webber and the AI's. It's games like that where they really need Hughes back. Snow had his new worst game of the season. It's bad enough that he couldn't hit a shot, but he kept shooting. Lebron and Z are the only 2 players on the roster that I don't mind seeing continue to shoot if they are missing although I would hope that both of them would try to go to the hoop rather than continue to miss outside shots. I wish Brown had put in Wilks to see if he could cover AI any better. I swear that little SOB gets more calls than anyone in the league. Every single time he drives to the hoop they call a foul. The one time Pavlovic got a clean stuff on AI the other AI got the rebound and slammed it down.
Snow and Jones just aren't quick enough to defend quick PG's like AI and Gooden isn't quick enough to guard good PF's like Webber. Hopefully Z can continue to play like this for the rest of the season because when he is on nobody can defend him. If Hughes does come back this season I would like to see him take Snow's spot in the lineup. He is quicker, a better shooter, better defender, and can't be a worse ball handler than Snow. I would much rather have Pavlovic continue to start than Snow. That would give the Cavs 5 players that can score in the starting lineup with Jones, Marshall, Varejao, and Snow coming off the bench.

Like I said exhawg, Allen Iverson is the baby of the NBA. He leads the league in foul shots attempted, yet he still bitches to the refs every time down the court. Its funny that its suspose to be a foul when the player with the ball goes out of his way to ignitiate contact.

Might as well give the Philadelphia fans whistles so that they can all call the game, it couldnt get much worst.

Since you know AI's going to get the call every time he drives you might as well put in a bench player and say foul him hard every time he drives. AI is a tough little SOB, but he can't take a beating from a PF/C very long if you make it a point to get a good shot on him.

Thats exactly what I was yelling at the TV during the second quarter. Put someone in there just to knock him down a few times, nothing too serious, just send him a message that hes going to feel the pain for those foul shots, no more touch foul bullshit.

The only thing he does is lower his head and dribble right into a player, then fall down and shoot the ball.

Kevin Ollie had more points(8) yesterday than he had in his Cav career. Snow was just disgusting to watch, he couldnt hit anything, same with Sasha. Lebrons defense was looking better and consistently improving, but it took a huge step backward, screw that, it just fell off of a cliff.

Well he didnt have any help from the rest of the team.

As for Kevin Olllie that is what we need from Snow, where he can just hit those open 15 footers and he did not do that last nite.

So does anyone know anything about Flip Murray because the Cavs traded Wilks for him? I guess now that the Sonics traded for Earl Watson they didn't need Murray.

After playing around with the ESPN trade machine the Cavs could never make a deal for Fortson because he gets paid way too much. He's making 2 mil more than Gooden this season.
