I dont really get it either. Maybe they were just trying to move Lee Nailon, since he hasnt played for quite a while, they obviously dont really care about him.

Im happy we got Nailon, when he played with us in '04 he was pretty good off of the bench. He can hit an open jumper, and thats what this team needs.

As for Murray, his stats are pretty bad, hes shooting 22% on 3-pointers, and 30-something% on 2's.

I also like the moves they made, but I really like Graham.

I think Graham came in and played well, but he didn't do anything in the 2 games since the break. Murray gives them another guard that can play point and scores more per game for the Sonics than Snow does for the Cavs even if his percentages are low. Hopefully he can defend, but since the Sonics wanted Watson to be their backup instead I'm not holding my breath. Maybe a change will be good for him and he should get more open shots. I have no idea what kind of player he is. I want to see what the Cavs writers have to say about him tomorrow before I make up my mind. It isn't like they gave up much to get him unlike Welsch last year. It looks like the Sixers basically gave Nailon to the Cavs rather than cut him. The Cavs didn't end up losing anything since they are swapping draft picks. The Sixers might save a little money trading him rather than cutting him.

Murray defends like my grandmother: he doesn't

He's not a pg but rather a sg, and not a very good one at that. It's not that his numbers are bad this season, they've always been bad. Unless he completely turns around his game and decides to play defense, don't get too excited.

How about this: he shoots like Snow and plays defense like Jones. That's a hell of a combination, huh?

Is our switch of 2nd's with Philly a Philly pick or a traded in pick? If it's theirs, then I'll gladly trade picks.

This makes both deals sound good for the Cavs.

Cavaliers acquire guard for scoring
Murray expected to help fill void left by Hughes

CLEVELAND - After it looked for days like the Cavaliers would be one of the idle teams at the NBA's trading deadline, they turned out to be one of the most active.

The Cavs made two trades Thursday afternoon, both of which could be considered minor, but both obviously favor them.

The team swapped backup point guard Mike Wilks and cash for Seattle SuperSonics shooting guard Ronald ``Flip'' Murray.

Then, in a separate and less impactful deal, the Cavs picked up a second-round pick and forward Lee Nailon from the Philadelphia 76ers.

Murray flew from Orlando, where he was with the Sonics, to Cleveland on Thursday night. He had to pass a physical, but could be in uniform when the Cavs host the Washington Wizards tonight.

Nailon, according to league insiders, isn't expected to report to the Cavs. To make the trades work, the Cavs had to waive rookie swingman Stephen Graham.

Murray is averaging 9.9 points and 2.5 assists in 48 games for the Sonics this season and is known for his athleticism and ability to get to the basket -- some of what the Cavs lost when Larry Hughes went down with a finger injury 26 games ago. He also can play point guard in spurts as he did when scoring 24 points to help the Sonics beat the Cavs on Dec. 2.

``His ability to create offense for himself and his size and athleticism can be a real positive,'' Cavs General Manager Danny Ferry said. ``He complements the guys we have.''

Ferry swooped in and grabbed Murray in a bargain when his inclusion in another trade Thursday, likely the Sonics' three-way swap with the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers, fell through.

``He brings even more versatility to our team,'' Cavs coach Mike Brown said. ``He'll help us in pick-and-roll situations because of his athleticism and I expect he can be a good defender.''

Murray, who is in his fourth season, has been disgruntled since last summer, when he reportedly rejected a five-year, $15 million contract extension offer from the Sonics and instead signed a one-year, $900,000 deal so he could become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

That contract required him to approve all trades. He'd approved his inclusion in the other deal, but when that didn't come to fruition, the Sonics looked to move him anywhere for anything by the 3 p.m. deadline.

Seattle is the most cash-strapped franchise in the NBA, and the money from Cavs owner Dan Gilbert's checkbook was likely deemed as valuable as Wilks, who was averaging just 1.1 points in 37 games for the Cavs.

Gilbert's willingness to take on contracts also played into the Nailon deal. The trade was made to save the 76ers luxury-tax money. The Cavs will take on the rest of Nailon's $800,000 contract and for their trouble get Philadelphia's 2006 second-round draft pick.

The Cavs gave the 76ers their 2006 second-round draft pick in the deal but it is highly conditional, and there's a good chance they won't give it up. Only if the Cavs' pick is in the last five spots in the second round will they have to give it up.

Nailon, who played 22 games with the Cavs in 2004, was arrested a month ago and charged with simple assault and harassment after an incident with his wife. He has not been with the Sixers since the arrest.

The Sixers will continue to pay his salary but not be on the hook for it when the luxury-tax bill is due. Nailon will likely be waived or permanently put on the inactive list by the Cavs.

As the above article says the Sixers are basically giving the Cavs their second round pick this year to take Nailon's contract off of their book, even though they will be paying for all of it and the Cavs will likely not have to give up a pick to the Sixers. He will never play for the Cavs so they could alway resign Graham for the rest of the season if they want to now.
The Sonic's really wanted to get rid of Murray who seems to be pissed off at Seattle's management for not giving him a bigger contract offer last year. Hopefully the Cavs can talk him into playing his ass off for the rest of the season on both sides of the ball a) to stick it to the Sonics for not giving him the contract he wanted last year b) to try to get a bigger contract when he becomes a free agent after this season. It sounds like Murray is a better player than Wilks so this should be a good move as well. Murray had 48 hours to report to Cleveland and he flew in yesterday shortly after the trade. I really hope he is happy to be with the Cavs. If he plays his cards right Lebron will make him look good for the next 3-4 months and someone will give him the contract that he wants.
