If they like what Pavlovic brings to the game they could always have Hughes and Lebron as the guards since they both can play PG and have Pav play SF. That would give them at least 1 player in the starting lineup who can nail spot up 3's. Lebron's defense has gotten much better over the past couple weeks and Hughes is the best defender on the team, which would help with Pavlovic's defensive problems.
On a side note Snow probably had his worst game of the season last night, but he has been shooting much better this season than he did last season. It would be nice to have the whole starting lineup average at least 10-15 points a game and Snow will never do that. Big games from Jones and Marshall last night made up for Snow and Gooden not playing as well as they usually do.
I turned the game on 5 minutes late and was wondering if a trade had gone through for Gooden. Turns out he just got in early foul trouble and was on the bench. I'm beginning to think I wouldn't mind if he was traded for one of the Chicago PG's, as long as they made another move to say Seattle to get Fortson and the Knicks to unload Snow. Or maybe a 3 way deal with the Sonics and Knicks sending Snow to NY and Fortson to the Cavs. I can dream can't I?

You sure can.:)

Sure, Snow may be shooting better, but he can't hit one when needed. Alot of his baskets this year are 10ft and in because defenses are dropping from him to double someone else, and he benefits from good passes to hit a layup or a short gimme (not sure if he has a gimme shot, i've seen him miss layups).

His defense no longer works on the quick pg's. He's only aqdequate when the opposing pg's are average, at best.

I'm not sure Pavlovic if Pavlovic could play the sf as a starter, but, barring a trade, I'd be willing to try anything.

I do agree with Hawg that Hughes' defense will be welcomed when he comes back and would make it easier on Pavlovic.

I stated during the game last nite that I think the trade rumors are affecting Gooden's play.

I still think Snow needs to be in the starting lineup, but with Hughes back he doesnt need to play as much. We are going to have a very strong bench. We could go an easy 10 deep and when Jackson came back it would be 11 with Henderson maybe getting some minutes every blue moon.

Pg - Snow
Sg - Hughes
Sf - LBJ
PF - Gooden
C - Z

Off the bench you got Pavs, Donyell, DJ, Wild Thing, and Newble.

Gooden could have just had a bad game last night. KG isn't a good matchup for him and he only played 5 minutes or so in the first half. That probably hurt his offensive production for the day. Z has had games like that against team with quick big men.

Well his last week or so hasnt been that great.

Edit: Well I looked at his last 5 games and he has went 1, 15, 18, 8, 15. But the Philly game he went off early and was non-existant in the second half. Don't get me wrong Gooden is good, but the way Varejao brings it on the defensive end you have to have Wild thing in the game.

Goodens stats the past 5 games:
Team....Pts........Boards
Nets.....18............6
Heat.....8..............8
76ers....18...........10
Bucks....15............7
Wolves..1..............7

I only see 1 really bad game. Of course I hadn't heard any trade rumors until yesterday. We'll have to see how he comes back tomorrow.

And I started my my research before your edit

IIRC Gooden was the only Cav who did anything against the 6ers at the beginning of the game even if he tailed off at the end of the game. On one hand I would hate to lose Gooden because the Cavs only have two guys who can create in the post, and he is one of them. On the other hand I would like to see Varejao play more and Marshall seems to be able to put points on the board even if many of them are from outside. If I could get a quick, good ball handling, defending, decent shooting PG for Gooden I think I would do it if I was Ferry.

Yeah I agree with you on that. I would like someone in the 6'3'' range and can get after it on D and hit the 3.

Gooden should have good value and I think if someone is willing to give up a pg like that we will do it.

Also we have Henderson who can come in and spell Varejao and Marshall if needed.

I'd be interested to see if the Cavs run LH at the point, with Sasha at SG, and Lebron at the SF.

I know Larry has excellent ball-handling skills and ran the offense in Washinton with Arenas. Would be interesting to see.

Hughes is not a pg. While he can handle the ball and bring it up the court you still have to have that guy that can iniate offense and direct the team. That is why Snow plays, but he is horrible from an offensive standpoint. Also Hughes has to play off the ball as the Sg so he can get shots created for him.

you saw last night the deficiency Cleveland has at the pg position.

jones is not good defensively, and really isn't a true pg.
snow is a decent defender, but minnesota intentionally let him shoot open 15 foot j's all night as they doubled on Z and Lebron. Snow couldnt hit one. He also can dribble and penetrate when he gets those open kickouts.

perhaps if snow and dj were morphed together you could get what cleveland needs in a pg. of course you would also get a cocky gunner with a down-syndrome like forehead.

Well to be fair Snow has been hitting more of them open jumpers this season, but not last nite.

I don't disagree that Hughes doesn't have a lot of experience setting up an offense. I disagree that the Cavs actually do set up much of an offense on most possessions. It usually running the offense through Lebron or Z, letting them see if they can create their own shot or hit the open man.

I also disagree that Larry has to play off the ball - in fact, he's not really a spot-up shooter at all. He's actually better off with the ball in his hands, which is where he can create his own shot or a shot for another. (EDIT: which is precisely why I really wanted Redd seeing as how we already have the best player in the league as far as shot creation for himself or others).
