Well, great win tonight. The D was there and cleaned the boards to the tune of 51-33.

Only one player on NJ shot 50% or better tonight, and he was just 6/11.

Pavlovic continues to play well as does Wild Thing with 7 boards. For Pavlovic 14 pts and 7 boards.

Throw in 9 blocked shots and you have a pretty good defensive game.

The bench sure will look good when Hughes comes back and the bench rotation is Marshall,Jones, Varajeo and Pavlovic.

Honestly I wouldnt be suprised to see Brown not give them as many minutes when Hughes comes back.

James, Cavs streaking

LeBron's triple-double sparks seventh victory in row

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

<!-- begin body-content -->CLEVELAND - When the going gets tough, the tough hike up their tights and go to the basket.
The Cavaliers' victories of late have come in many textures and flavors, and Wednesday's was another exhibit.
Playing a slow-tempo, physical, grinding affair with the New Jersey Nets, the Cavs didn't do much pretty. So they played ugly and churned out a 91-85 victory.
It was the Cavs' seventh consecutive win, as they got to 10 games above .500 (27-17) for the first time this season.
Of course, LeBron James played a major role, delivering a clutch fourth quarter to carry his rugged, yet sluggish mates home. He scored 15 of his 26 points in the final quarter and put the finishing touches on his third triple-double of the season with 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
The Nets (23-21) snapped the Detroit Pistons' 11-game winning streak in their building Tuesday by playing slowly and methodically and brought the game plan with them.
They swarmed James, sometimes assigning three defenders to his area, to force the ball out of his hands.
They also walked it up the floor and swallowed the shot clock.
That knocked the Cavs from their usual rhythm. They turned it over in bunches early, 11 times in the first half.
``We aren't used to their style, whatever their style is,'' said Cavs coach Mike Brown, whose team had lost five in a row to Jersey. ``We had to get ugly and dirty.''
James scored just four points in the first half and didn't make it to the free-throw line until there were five minutes left in the third quarter.
The assigned shooters were unable to help. Donyell Marshall and Damon Jones had off nights, combining to go 4-of-15.
The other option, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, looked tired and lumbered to get open in the post, getting just five shots.
Had it not been for Drew Gooden, who had 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting, the winning streak might've been toast.
Yet the Nets couldn't take advantage on the other end, struggling to find holes and lanes within the Cavs' defense. They were all too content to settle for long jumpers, most of which were misses that the Cavs corralled.
In all, the Nets shot just 38 percent and were outrebounded 51-33 as Cavs guards Eric Snow (eight rebounds), Sasha Pavlovic (seven) and James grasped long rebounds.
As such, the Cavs were still in position late, which is when James got active. He worked overtime to find daylight going to the basket for layups and fouls. He got to the foul line 10 times in the fourth quarter, making nine to secure a win.
``You're going to have games like this,'' James said. ``I knew I was going to have to be a little more aggressive for us to win.''
Also clad in tights, Vince Carter tried to match James by driving as well. He scored 29 points with the same sort of gritty dashes to the basket.
Pavlovic, who had 14 points, drilled a pair of clutch late jumpers off James passes, and the Cavs limped to the finish.
``They were extremely physical with LeBron and they made him work for everything he got,'' Brown said. ``He didn't just settle and try to score. He got it done defensively, got it done on the boards and got it done by sharing the basketball.''
``LeBron demands a lot of attention; he did a great job of finding the open guy,'' said Nets guard Jason Kidd, who has 70 triple-doubles in his career. ``He has a chance to (catch me) if he stays healthy.''

I've been saying it for a week or so now, but Pavlovic is really coming into his own since he's been starting. It looked like he got in Carter's head in the second half last night. Snow started the game defending Carter which helped slow him down from the start. Pavlovic started the game defending Kidd.
Gooden was absolutely on fire last night. I'd like to see what the Cavs record is when Lebron triple doubles? I like that Jackson is getting some playing time now that Newble is out. I can see the inconsistency that is keeping Jackson on the bench, but he does give a ton of effort while he is out there. Carter stole the ball from him last night, but Jackson busted his ass back down the floor to block Carter's shot and save the ball before it went out of bounds. Lebron got him three wide open chances at 3's in the corner and he sunk the last one. IMO if Jackson could improve himself as much as Pavlovic has done this season the Cavs are going to be set at SG and SF. With Varejao playing as well as he has been their whole 2 deep is strong. The only thing that they might be missing is a really physical presence at PF or C. If they had a Ben Wallace type of defensive PF or C they would be set.
The Cavs big men are up for a test tonight in Miami. Z is looking pretty tired even though he hasn't played very much over the past few games. He will be the key in the game tonight. He needs to try to score and get Shaq in foul trouble like the first time that the Cavs played the Heat. This will be a very different game than last night since it will focus around the bigs rather than the guards. At least the Cavs have plenty of big men to throw at Shaq today. If he is having an off night at the line they have 36 fouls to throw at him.
If the Cavs can beat the Heat on the road without Hughes I don't think I'm going to have any choice but to get optimistic about the Cavs chances in the playoffs.

It's funny that the Cavs were 2 games over .500 at the end of last season and didn't make the playoffs. If they were 2 games over .500 and the playoffs started right now they would have the 4 seed. Luckily they are 10 games over .500 and still have the 4 seed so they have some room on the teams that are behind them. Unfortunately they can't do any better than the 4 seed this year with the way the Pistons are playing. Hopefully the rest of the east will continue to play poorly for the rest of the season and the Cavs will have no problem getting a home court for a playoff series. I hope I don't end up putting my foot in my mouth about this, but I think the Cavs have enough shooters now that if opponents decide to double Lebron and leave other players wide open they are going to pay for it, especially when Hughes gets back.

Well the thing that sucks is we will probably get teh bucks in the first round and they present some mismatch problems for us. If we stay at the 4 spot we will have the home court advantage which would propel us over them.

Then On to Detroit.

I know it is way to early for this talk, but the 7 game win streak and the depth we are creating is getting me excited.
